I can probably find it in a phone book now that I know the name.

Back then the street was called Broadway, but now it's just Seventh Avenue (which is the main street for Ybor).
Happy eating!

Tourists and Snowbirds are the lifeblood of Naples

I know Tourism really generates alot of revenue for Florida , so, maybe someone can explain this situation for me since im moving to the Panhandle soon. Thank you.

I lived in Naples for years. For years you didn't go north of pine ridge or east of airport. I left when the feel of season extended thru the summer, and the traffic took the joy from living in a small beach town.
During season I needed to wait to get into my favorite restaurants, The Moorings (the community I lived in) beach parking was always full and the beach crowded. The Gordon River was packed with boats and with speed control on the weekends, a short ride to the gulf took over 1/2 hour. My favorite ledges and wrecks were packed with other boats.
The streets used to roll up at 9 PM. When I left, 5th Ave was still hoping well after mid-night.
Tourists are Welcome, but what made Florida special is changing.

This thread reminds me of Tacky Tourist Day at school, when I was about 10. Us kids were supposed to wear outrageous tourist gear that day.

OMG, you must have grown up in FL, too! On Tacky Tourist Day I wore a black beehive wig, HUGE horn-rimmed glasses, my grandma's moomoo and huge jewelry saying, "Ohhh...my...gowad! Flowida is so freakin' hyooomid! It's so much dryah in Noo Yoowak!"
As I recall, I was sent home from school early that day...my parents were laughing, but I didn't get it at the time...
I see you were moved to FL against your will. You have my greatest sympathies! I was unfortunate enough to be born here and don't know no better. Hopefully you will make better decisions for yourself, now that you're an adult!

The only place I can see where tourists were a nuisance at times was in Orlando, because they have NO CLUE where they are going, and cut you off by crossing 4 lanes of I-4 to get to Disney, or wherever they were headed. That was the only tourist issue I complained about.

That is dangerous what they did. For sure. We've all been in foreign territory as a Tourist within the USA , so, Im having trouble understanding why many Florida natives make a big deal out of Tourists who visit their state which amounts to huge revenues for Florida. Arent we as Americans supposed to be united all across this Land and isnt it a proper construct to share what we have with our fellow Man ? I always thought everyone had the freedom to visit/live whereever they desired within the USA , so....maybe those that dont like Tourists in Florida are infringing upon others rights (??)
