I can't speak for a the south Florida cities near Miami although I've heard Fort Lauderdale is nice. I Like St.Pete better than any other place on the list, Clearwater is a pretty good place to live and Bradenton seems OK. Steer clear from Brooksville and esp. Lakeland. Both places are terrible.

If I were in the market to move from my little town, St. Pete is where I would go. It has gorgeous beaches, lots of great restaurants and things to do, beautiful old architecture and a great, vibrant downtown. JMO! ![]() |

hi matty k,
do you speak spanish? are you of latin descent? then you might feel very at home in the miami area. otherwise, you might feel a little disenfranchised. i moved here three years ago with great expectations, and i find myself becoming more and more frustrated with each day. i am incredibly open minded and the last person you would label a bigot, but i feel like a stranger in a strange land. and it is not just the latin majority, it is the prevalent values of this town (or lack thereof). it appears glossy and superficial from the outside, and unfortunately, it is. i thought that once i moved here i would find a stable group of working professionals underneath all of the hype. not so. so, to sum it up: abundance of latins: yes. shortage of down to earth folks: yes. you decide. |

My husband and I live in Hollywood Fl and hate it. Federal Hwy is full of homeless people, hookers, drunks and drug addicts. It is shabby and run down. We pay $850.00 a month for a small run down apartments which the jalousey windows (tilted panes) suck all the a/c out of. We cant wait to move away. Soaring rental and home prices, an influx of too many people coming in, bad traffic, rude people and also high auto insurance make it tough to eke out a living here. If your heart is set on Fl, try Orlando for cheap rents and lost of jobs or you may pay $1200.00 to live in S. Fl.
