Then it has to be Zora Neale Hurston. Zora wrote a book and the other woman made it famous. It became a movie a few years back and Oprah was the star.
That town was famous because the developer bought up a bunch of land so that he could sell partials to the blacks so they could have a place of their own. Real land, real jobs, Home.

Nope, just an old Wyoming Cowboy that really doesn't have much to do but read. I spent 14 months in Tampa. First weekend I was there, I bought groceries. Second weekend, I drove 100 miles North and drove through all the little towns between the interstate and the coast and worked my way back toward Tampa. Next weekend, I went NorthEast and did the same thing. Now, when I say I drove through the little towns, that's not accurate. I stopped at each one, got out and walked around, got a flavor for the locals and the history.
Did that every weekend the whole time I was there. I've done it everywhere I've been.

John Hanson couldn't possibly have been the "first president of the United States," because neither the office of President of the United States nor the nation known as the United States of America was created until after he was dead according to what I have read.

I didn't say first president of the "United States". I said, First President. We already had a Continental Congress and they elected him into the position. Woops, I just went back and reread. At one point I did call him the president of the United States, but the original question was who was the first President. My bad. Sorry for the confusion. But he was actually the third person to preside over congress. The first two did not hold full terms of one year. He was the first one to hold full office and actually take the label of President doing the same thing the previous other two did. But they gave him this title so he could "Represent" our country in talks with England and France.
-----------------------------
As the first President, Hanson had quite the shoes to fill. No one had ever been President and the role was poorly defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents. He took office just as the Revolutionary War ended.
-----------------------------
Delegate Hanson understood this and was instrumental in persuading the Maryland Legislature to ratify the Articles of Confederation, The new Congress of November 1781 rewarded Hanson for this service by electing him President on November 5, 1781.

Okay, this is getting way too educational for me at the moment... more fluff?
Florida Q: What prompted the legislature to build the new capitol building in Tallahassee?

That ones tough, but it's one of two things. Either the state wanted a long term commitment out of Tallahassee or Tallahassee wanted to prove a long term commitment to the state. 1974 or 75?

Yes, there was a bill filed to relocate the capitol to Orlando and so the pork choppers appropriated funds to build a new capitol. It was around that time.
It's very phallic-looking from the outside- the 22 story capitol building in between two round domes of the house and senate chambers.
You just can't be stumped.....hmmm.....this may not be quite true anymore, but....town that is (was) the largest flea market?
