Pickpockted of a small amount of money in Coconut Grove a couple years ago. However yes, I have had a couple of friends or family members who have been burglarized. Don't know anyone who has been violently robbed or anything like that though.

Jacket stolen from a wide-open Jeep, if you call that a crime.

I lived in FL for over 30 years and yes I was a victim more than once. I had a purse stolen in a restaurant (Ft.Lauderdale), I also had one taken at a place I worked at. (West Palm Beach)He jumped onto the loading dock and came inside. Again got my purse in the office and tried to steal my car which was parked out front. Didn't make it so he ran off and then used my cell phone to call my husband and tried to sell him back my phone. My husband asked where he was and he told him. I sent the poilce and the jerk waited. Not even a smart crook! I also had my car broken into (Stuart) and they tried to steal my radio. A factory radio no less. It was parked in a Publix parking lot at the time. That's all I can remember. Nothing ever violent.

I guess this poll isn't working out the way you thought, huh Lulu? There's more crime going on in Florida than you think. Like I said in the other post, blinders Lulu....blinders.

Let me add a story as well...I lived in California for 25 years. The only thing that happened to me was a car of mine got keyed in a parking lot. I moved out here to Florida and my ex wife's family moved out here as well. About a year after living out here, my ex mother-in-law (hmmm...that sounds wierd) was cruising around Sarasota when a guy ran up to her car. He looked panicked, so she rolled down her window and asked him if he needed help. The guy jumped into her car and demanded she start driving..."now". He stomped on her foot to get her to drive off, and she just drove at his mercy for about 2 miles before she got stuck in traffic, patrol units located her/him, and he bailed out of the car and got arrested. Come to find out the guy was being pursued on foot by police for a strongarm robbery he committed. He was charged with burglary (to her vehicle), and kidnapping as well as the robbery and resisting arrest.
So, it's hit not me personally, but a member of my family. And nothing like this happened to ANY of us when we lived in So Cal, presumably the most dangerous city in the west.
