St. Augustine has culture, and a lot of history. The oldest city here in the USA. And beautiful...

The downtown(Orlando) area is improving people who don`t live here or even bother to go will not see that it is slowly getting better.

I haven't been there since 2006. What has changed? Orlando always had potential to be a nice town, but it seems like it never strives to be more than a minor-league city. They need some serious improvement in shopping and restaurants downtown to draw people in.
Have they broken ground on the new arena for the Magic? That should add some life to the downtown area. Weren't they planning on a whole marketplace-type thing around the new arena to get more people downtown?
Gosh, I remember when the old Orlando Arena (O-Rena - much cooler name than TD Waterhouse or Amway!) was just built. I'm getting old.

Yes the new Arena is a go and there are some new restaurants in the Plaza and the urban publix is open now, also seen some new cafés in wall street plaza and church street. A few new businesses off magnolia and a coffee shop around magnolia and Jefferson? maybe will have to see the street again....
So hopefully the ball will keep rolling in the right direction.

I haven't been to Orlando since 1988 when my kids were little and we lived in NY. Once was enough. Did my duty.

We went to Seaworld February 2007, it was great. I still like being a "tourist" and staying on International Drive. Even though I live in FL.

Yes, moved here at 14, and wanted to move back to where I knew people.
But by the time I finished high school, there really wasn't a reason to go back.

We like to go back and visit friends in New England and we enjoy its seasons, especially fall, but we don't plan to permanently return. We live in North Port, which is in Sarasota County, and we are very happy here, especially when a friend or relative tells of an ice storm or 14 inches of new snow in one 24-hour period up north. Nice to be able to ride out to Manasota Key in February and watch the sun disappear into the Gulf of Mexico without wearing a coast, or to go the super market in a tee-shirt.

I could have written what Northporter said. Ditto about the New England thing, etc. only I'm in Vero Beach.
