When you are flying into Naples

You will see all those lakes. They are lakes in all the DEVELOPMENTS in Naples. Just about every development in Naples has man made lakes. I suppose they were built that way so people could say they have "water view". You are a real estate agent so you should know all about that as selling point in real estate.

My concern isn't whether anyone is "scaring anyone away". It's that people are claiming things as factual that are false . . . and apparently not caring that they're doing this. I explained the seasons in Florida in another thread, with a relevant title.
If someone said, "Armonk is in New Jersey. To say that it's in New York is absurd!" I wouldn't be worried that they like or do not like Armonk (or New York or New Jersey or whatever), that they might be scaring people away from New York or New Jersey, etc. I'd want to correct them that factually, Armonk is in New York, and I'd be a bit dumbfounded why they might keep repeating "Armonk is in New Jersey" after I've demonstrated that it isn't.
If what they really meant was something like, "Armonk used to be very different than it is now--it doesn't resemble what I think of as Armonk; instead, there are parts of Jersey that are much more like how I picture Armonk now!" Then I would expect them to type instead, because "Armonk is in New Jersey" doesn't conventionally refer to what they've got in their minds instead.

and post that it does, be my guest. You will NEVER convince anyone from up North that it does.
The reason 99.9% of people move to Florida is because it DOESN'T have 4 seasons.
This thread is getting so off topic and frankly, quite boring.

Those are retention ponds to help manage storm water runoff. Would you rather the streets just flood.
If you want lakes you have Okeechobee, The Chain of Lakes over in Winter Haven, Lake Tsala Apopka and more. There is no shortage of real lakes in Florida

That may very well be true--I don't know, but that's what you should type then instead of "After living here [with "here", in context, apparently being an indexical substitute for "Florida", given no indication to the contrary], I realized they were all development made lakes. lol Yep, fake lakes, just like everything else."
While "water view" is a real estate selling point, the primary reason for those man-made lakes in developments in South Florida is for drainage. You have to remember that most of Florida south of Lake Okeechobee was part of the Everglades. Those man-made bodies of water (and the barrier around Lake O, and all the locks, etc.) are in place to stem off the threat of floods. The added real estate value is usually just a bonus to a necessity for development.

That may be true, too, but that people simply do not care about facts as such, and do not care about trying to more precisely match their words with their thoughts, hardly seem like positive attributes to me. Both of those properties cause a lot of problems instead, in everything from interpersonal relationships to international politics.

Yes the thread is always off topic a select few are doing thier job 100% recently at getting the threads closed, a big "great job", you have succeeded again. Since we can't have a thread for ourselves, we will have to post in the rest. It gets boring because there is always a Sigmund Freud in here. And we are normally always wrong no matter what we say anyways.
Maybe we should just keep it to. I hate Florida, Florida is the hottest place I have ever been and it is terrible. i hate Florida because I can't find a decent job anymore. I hate Florida it seems to me there is no season chnge because I am from New England. If that's what we need to say. I don't feel 100% that way because there are things I like about FL, but what else can we say without being analyzed EVERY time?

I mentioned previously (in another thread) what one would have to do if one desires more dictatorial control over who can post and what can be posted. Not everyone wants that kind of control of things, and to me, it seems that maybe we're not all quite getting the gist of how message boards tend to work, but I understand that it would be frustrating for those who want more dictatorial control of others.

Yes, I've seen those, too . . . although let me beat my head against the wall for a moment re emphasizing that I'm not posting to try to convince anyone that they should like Florida, that Florida is the greatest thing since sliced bread rather than the worst thing since root canal, that they really need to avoid saying bad things about Florida, etc.
. . . that's probably enough meta-discussion, though. Why not just get back to listing the stuff that you don't like about Florida in this thread?
