PJC is located in Pensacola near Cordova Mall so it will not exactly be near any country places. You'll definitely have a commute to school if you choose to live in a place where you can go four-wheeling. You can check out places like Molino, Cantonment, and Jay. PJC also has a campus in Milton, which is definitely close to country. My suggestion is to rent an apartment close to PJC, finish school, and then move to the country.
Your boyfriend shouldn't have trouble finding a job but don't expect high wages.

Honestly, I stand by my original advice. Rent before you buy. You are young and have plenty of time to decide where to buy a house. Wages are low and they do not make up for inexpensive housing. You only think that because you're moving from the Keys. Take your time and get to know the area so you can make an informed decision. Don't just rush out and buy a house that looks good. Area matters a lot in Pensacola and you really don't want to make a bad investment.

Pensacola is a great place to live. Don't worry about "trashy rednecks" I would look at historic pensacola, it's beautiful! PJC isn't that bad of a commute from most anywhere in P'cola. I agree that renting is the best way to go, that way you can get a feel for the city. There are lots of places to live in P'cola. I would look at North Hill and East Hill as well. You could also check out areas close to the University of West Florida. Alot of comments RE trashy rednecks usually come from folks moving from out of state. If you've lived in the south, you'll understand what I mean!
Also, there is a great beach community outside of P'cola called Gulf Breeze. It's not too bad of a commute to PJC from there and it's really quaint and cute. It's also very close to Pensacola Beach.
Good luck!

P'cola is alot of fun...it's a really diverse town. When you're there, check out Seville Quarter and esp. Rosie O'Grady's at night. It's alot like Duval St. in the Keys, except it's a little more laid back.
This time of year it's very slow, tho as tourist season starts to wind down. P'cola is also very seasonal, unlike south florida and can have pretty cold winters. It starts to warm up around mid-March - April and then is very warm until mid-Oct. - Nov. - altho, there are still warm days in Dec.!
There is alot of fishing and sailing, as that area has alot of bayous and bays that lead out to the ocean. The water is a beautiful emerald color almost year round (except for when the seaweed comes in!) and the sand is a brilliant color of white.
There's lots to do in P'cola, but it still has that sleepy southern town feel to it. Also, Perdido Key isn't too far away, and is really beautful as well.
