sprintrps,

You sound a bit like me. Looking for similar things at least. I ride a Harley, like the water but don't want to live on it, and enjoy having places to go and things to do. Don't like the Bible Belts either. Left SC and are now leaving AL for that reason. Headed to Ocala, most likely Stone Creek. Only 30 minutes to Crystal River and an hour or so to the Atlantic.

I retired at 55 from Southern California and moved to Arkansas, which is just not right for me.
I am 60 years old, single, and I am looking for:
Medium size town (30-50K population) that is 45 minutes or less from a large city.
I would need a small house/townhouse..new construction...1500 sq ft for $200,000 or less (cash).
I like to read so a good library is needed.
I like motorcycles, so I need to be 30 minutes or less from a Harley Davidson dealer.
55+ is OK, but not my 1st preference.
I live a quiet lifestyle so a "party town" is out.
I do NOT have to be at the beach, but 30 minutes away is OK.
I do NOT play golf.
I plan to be in FL after 11/22 for 3-4 weeks so I have time to drive around to different areas. Planning to move..March '09. My research seems to show the middle of the state as my best bet, but I am open minded and would really appreciate your input.
Well, if you haven't moved, hope you've checked out Ponce Inlet, Flagler Beach, New Smyrna Beach, DeLand, Casadega, St. Augustine, Alachua and Dunedin.
