Default Living near Lake Buena Vista (WDW)?

My wife is talking to a certain M-O-U-S-E about a professional (career) position, and we were wondering if anyone had any suggestions for convenient neighborhoods close to Lake Buena Vista? We're fairly familiar with the Lake Mary/Altamonte Springs area, but are curious about other areas without so much traffic. Kissimmee always seems to be more "tourist" than "resident", and Celebration is way too Stepford Wives for my tastes. Any other thoughts?

It's just the two of us - kids are grown and in college - so schools aren't a consideration. We'd probably rent for the first year, then buy from there.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the info. We're in western Iowa right now - we've been talking about moving to FL for close to 2 years, so this wasn't a decision we're going to rush into. I for one am sick of winter, and my DW loves the beach. I realize that FL life has its pros and cons, but believe me - so does life anywhere else, too. Try Iowa in mid-January when it's 20 below zero outside.

Default Celebration

Celebration, Florida is the greatest place in the world to live. Speed limit is 25 mph and there is zero tolerance.

The Four Corners area to the west of WDW is experiencing rapid growth. I have a ffriend who lives there and he tells me in the mornings the water pressure is horrible. Too many people moving in too fast and utilities are not keeping up. This is secondhand information so take it FWIW.
Clermont is a little ways to the NE. It too has grown rapidly the last few years (after the turnpike added an interchange). I hear it is a nice area; again, secondhand info. Good luck!

clermont is nice, but an acre of land is 100 grand... or some such price... it's expensive.

We looked at both Celebration and Windermere and decided on Windermere, which is just starting to be developed. The peacefulness will probably end but for now it's very nice. Also check out the Dr. Phillips area.
