Default Cool things to do in Florida...

I thought it might be interesting to start a thread on cool things to do in Florida. I'm not talking about the general-Disney, Busch Gardens, etc. I'm talking unusual, different, out of the way places to visit. Where are some cool places you've visited? Here are some of my top picks:

Babcock Wilderness Adventures -Charlotte county

Cabbage Key --Lee County

Historic Spanish Point --Sarasota County

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens --Sarasota County

Mote Marine --Sarasota County

Sarasota Jungle Gardens --Sarasota County

Solomon’s Castle --Hardee County

South Florida & Bishop Planetarium --Manatee County

St. Augustine is a pretty cool place to hang out. I was there about a month ago. I like that restaurant with the waterwheel on the side.

i also liked st. augustine. ripley's believe it or not was interesting, and i thought that the shrunken head was fascinating. i liked marineland nearby. i also liked bok towers in lake wales. it has a beautiful setting and really reminds me of old florida.

Thanks for starting this thread! I will probably hit your website too when I start my things to do / places to go list as well. Last time I visited, I was on my way to The Pelican Man Santuary, and Mote Marine when I got turned around for the house inspection. I didn't know then what that was, but now I have more of an idea. I am going to definitely hit those spots, and probably drive to a few beaches as well. We will be traveling around to a few furniture stores, as well.

For all those that are interested, Ladywithafan is coordinating the Meet Up (on another thread) for next weekend. We're going to try to hit that too.

Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda is worth a few hour visit. If you have some extra time, you can take a boat ride out to Cayo Casto (?)/the island you can only get to by boat.
