Default Moving to Florida for the winter HELP!!!

I'm moving to Florida for about 5 months for the winter, I never been there and I had a couple questions: I want a place with generally nice people, laid back, low crime rate, and near the beach. I'll need a short term lease effiency/studio and I was looking to spend about 600-800 a month. I'm on social security so I won't be looking for employment. I'm 23 so I was thinking about a college town or town where young people congregate. also, a place with moderate traffic seeing as I will need a bike for getting around. Any help is appreciated.

Check out Cocoa Beach . It's not a college town but otherwise fits your criteria. You'll find young people at the Ron Jon surf shop. Great beaches and not overly crowded.

You may try Port Orange also or St Augustine.

I second this, there are plenty of young people there. Look on craigs list for rentals under the Space Coast. Good luck!

Great beaches and not overly crowded?!??? What are you all talking about??
Cocoa beach is where all the tourists and Orlando folks go. Its WAY crowded compared to the more southern beaches.
If you want to hang out on the sand next to a bunch of smokers, then this is the perfect place.

Cocoa Beach fits all the criteria the thread starter wanted. Other places are going to be wayyy more expensive to live. Cocoa Beach is a local beach and of course it's going to be crowded on weekends (what beach isn't?). There are 5 other days in a week .

Tourists mainly visit the "more happening" beaches such as (Miami ,Daytona ,Clearwater, etc) . Other than Kennedy Space Center area, I don't think Cocoa Beach really gets a lot of tourists.

I agree. Destin may be a good pick.

Hmmm, Lakeland, thats around Orlando isn't it???? Like I said, Cocoa Beach is where all the Orlando folks go.

I lived in brevard county for 3 years...most of those years on beachside.
Satellite Beach or Indian Harbour Beach (which is south of cocoa beach) is WAY cheaper. You may even get a house(not on the beach) or a condo on the beach for the amount your wanting to pay.
Any of these places have plenty of young people who like to surf if you want to get into that.
