Default politics of Florida sugar

Does the Government still enact price supports and a protectionist policy for sugar cane produced in Florida? And what are the two candidates' positions on Big Sugar in Florida? As much as I hate to say it, I would love to see Big Sugar in Florida get opened up to competition from cheaper Caribbean sugar.. the guys behind it are some of the biggest, richest creeps in FL and they are befouling what's left of the 'Glades

This year politicians agreed to buy big sugar's land for $1,750,000,000 for 187,000 acres. Much of this land is or will be useless (to grow sugar) to b/c each year another layer of rich soil is removed and all that will be left is rock. Big Sugar wins big in this buyout.
