If you want a different lifestyle than Polk Co., BELIEVE ME, it cant be found. If you like Polk Co., there are tons like it in N FL. Not sure what drove you out of FL, there are lots of reasons ppl are leaving/trying to leave, but glad you like TN. But you must have some interest if you are always on the FL forum.

Are you suffering from mullet poisoning ?

I LOVE North Florida and trust me Poke County is nothing like it!!!!!!

Poke County is straight out of Deliverance and Jerry Springer. North Florida is good old fashioned Southern morals and hospitality. Comparing the 2 is an insult to Southerners everywhere. Have you even lived here before (visiting South Lakeland doesn't count) ? This is the strangest place I've ever been.........

I mean if you are looking for a smaller southern town feeling. Rather than the rat race most ppl think of when thinking of FL (Miami, Tampa, Orlando).

No, never lived in Lakeland, but I know its got its moments! LOL! I actually think towns like Lakeland and Winter Haven arent too bad. I'd certainly take over Miami or Orlando. But most would.

And I like Northern FL and its southerness too! Why is Lakeland so strange for you Lakeland Yankee?

Most surprising pleasant county on the East Coast?
Martin (it's next to Palm Beach but emotionally closer to Georgia. Was still fighting fluoride in the municipal water last year and no buildings taller than four stories in the entire county.)
-
Most money?
Dade (forget what city-data says on this one, just trust me on this one)

How about Pam Bch? Jupiter Island, Palm Bch, etc...?
I live in Jupiter Island. (rent)
There are 10 mile stretches in Dade that have more wealth than Palm Beach (the entire Island) Juno Beach and Jupiter Island (the whole 12 mile stretch starting at the inlet)
That's all of them together, by the way.

Actually, Tennessee isn't exactly on my list of favorite places to live but it's been good to me, ALOT better then Florida ever was.

I post in the Florida forum because unfortunatly I was born there ( Orlando ) and lived 18 years there ( Tampa-St. Pete, Ft. Myers ) and I think it's my duty as a former resident to warn the people that think they're just going to packup and relocate to hell and have a disney fairytale lifestyle.

You would have to live here to understand...............

The stuff that goes on here is just unbelievable. I'll give you just one quick example since it's not a Polk County thread. There's plenty of other stories that are weird and crazy too that come out of Polk. I think it's because there are a lot of Meth users : Polk Still Seen as Meth 'Hot Spot' | theledger.com | The Ledger | Lakeland, FL and it causes people to do strange things .

^^^ LOL I have heard some of those stories. Meth is a cheap drug, popular in WNC too, and so I am not suprised.
