Loved it when we moved here in 1984 and still love it today. It's different, but so it is everywhere else.
You know it's easy to gripe and complain and blame anyone else for whatever situation, reading this forum validates that. It takes effort to be happy.
I hope you, too, will be glad to be here!

Quite frankly, unless you move to Florida specifically because you LIKE the weather in Florida and HATE the weather (as in SNOW) where you came from, you are probably not going to like it.

We are planning on moving to the sunshine state. Just curious if anyone out there likes living in Florida? Because so many do not. I have read all the negatives, any positives I have not found an area that is total Utopia. But, we would like to call Florida home

I've been here 25 years, I like it.

Which Florida. I'm a native and will tell all that there are some FL's I give gold for and some I wouldn't trade the dust off my shoes for. There are enough of them most can find one they like. The question is the same for most everyone who still needs to work and that is "Can I earn a living there?". City-Data publishes a lot of data that should take preference on what you read in the forums as it is based on factual data without the human emotions of malcontents or those who think they are in paradise. Follow up with an extended visit if you are serious about an area before moving unless you are retired and can roam until you do find what you are looking for. My 2¢ worth.

As I said, we are not looking for Utopia. Yes, the SNOW is nasty. But can we live with it???? YES! Do we want to??? NO! Believe me, its more than the weather. We are not the kind of people to base everything on the weather. That would be unrealistic. We have been researching our move for year. Thanks for the info. We know not to base our move on weather. That would be STUPID!

thank you to all
We are looking at the Brevard County area. Also, Port St.Lucie and Sebastian. We are not in a hurry. Not a retirement situation. We are in our 40's. Friends live in Palm Bay. My husband travels to Florida several times a year. We have both been in the area many times. Winter and summer. We want to know an unbiased opinion concerning a few areas. I have been reading so many negatives. And wonder why they still reside in Florida?
I do agree, if we were living there...Would not be in front of the computer complaining about it. Today it was 48 degrees and we were still outside bbq'ing. Still love Ohio. Still love our home. Just ready to make a new beginning. As I have stated we are not looking for Utopia.

Some people like it and some of us do not. Florida's not for everyone, that's for sure.

If I may ask, where do you plan on going? I have also heard the Carolina's and East TN are a haven. Enjoy your retirement. And the next 5 years in Florida. See you soon
