For a New Jersey resident probably moving to Florida in the future who frequents "turkey shoots", especially in the fall here in New Jersey I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows of any vfw halls, amvets, gun clubs, taverns fire halls or other organization that holds turkey shoots in Florida whether it just be seasonal or year round ? For those that are not knowledgeable on this.....no actual turkeys are hurt........only paper targets are used with frozen turkeys and hams as prizes.

you can find them in north fl/ south ga. the only ones i know of are local clubs/individuals who put them on. its nothing formal; they just put a sign by the road listing which weekends they'll have the shoot. i wonder if NRA has any information on such clubs?

You did not say where in florida? On the west coast, the hernando sportsmanclub is a huge outdoor range and they have several events during the year. They have a machine gun shoot on the 4th and I think a canon shoot later this month. I did not see a turkey shoot listed but you can check them out here:

My kids moved to the Ocala area but I've heard they do have shoots in the state. Basically its about 20 guys with 12 gauge shotguns all using the same variety of shell shooting at 20 different paper targets with about a 3" bullseye.....up here in New Jersey the winner is the guy with the most amount of pellets in the bullseye but some do go by who has a pellet closest to an X in the center of the bullseye. Sorry......no machine guns allowed !!!!
