I am very distraught to see the way the insurance companies doing the insuring for homeowners in the state of florida are getting away with not just double but in my case 5 I repeat 5 times the amount of my premium this time last year. Why do we have an insurance comissioner at all if they can get away with this. Anyone else feeling the robbing that we are????

I feel the same way that you do because the same thing happened to me, but on the other hand would I want to be financially responsible to re build a 150k home for recievinig $5k per year? NOOOOO!!!!!

You are wrong, the biggest robbers are the property tax assessors and the state. With insurance at least you get something for your money, with property taxes much of it is just wasted. It's like burning money , so who else wants to do something about them?

I don't know if I am stating this correctly because it is coming off the top of my head. But to pay $5000 to insure a $150,000 home would mean they are giving up like 30 to 1 on the money. When in fact the odds of your home being destroyed is probably more like many thousands to 1, not 30 to 1.
