I don't know about natives, but around here it seems everytime there's a big cold front, the reporters go out on the streets, find the most stereotypical loud New Yorker, and they all give the same interview year after year:
Reporter: "What do you think about this cold weather?"
NYer: "Harumph! I moved from New Yawk to get away from the cold! I don't like it one bit!"
Then of course they open up the homeless shelters because of the 40 degree weather at night.

Last year I don't remember it getting this cold until December (although I could be wrong ). My home state of PA is already getting snow so it might be a colder winter for everyone.

This New Yorker LOVES the cold. But that wouldn't fit the stereotype, now would it?

2) Do you think we are in for a colder than normal winter this year ? This is just way too early to be hit with these cold temps.
3) Do Florida natives like these colds spells since it is a change in the weather? Some natives I speak to absolutely love it when it gets cold here but I'm curious about the others.

1 - Like others have said the humidity we have makes it feel colder, than up north. So yes our 60F temp will feel colder than up North.
2- I think we may be, they said Southern hemespeher (sp???) had a colder winter this year, so hopefully we will have a colder winter than last year. It was way to warm in 2007.
3 -As a native Floridian, I LOOOOVVVEEEEE these days, are weather the last few years have been really boring, Summer, Summer, Summer, And more Summer Temps. Its really nice, to be able to wear a long sleeve shirt and be comfortable temp wise.

I saw a clip from the news today, and they showed these two woman dressed in huge coats. Its so funny, the people here pull out these huge coats when it drops into the 60s. Funnyyy.

We are do for a cooler than normal winter. That means 20 days of cold instead of 10. I can handle it. I always say I can add enough to keep warm but can't take enough off to cool down.... And yes, I'm a native of central FL.

Whoa! Something can't be right...I know I've read on this forum that the haters claim it's 90+ degrees 10 months of the year. No change of seasons and no need for a fireplace. What happened to global warming?
Danbury, Ct. shut down early today because of the weather. Yeah, it's cold here in Fl. but it really s***** in the NE right now. I don't understand how folks can hatefully criticize Fl. because the weather is too hot. Watching the world series reinforced my love of the warm weather. A driving rain in less than 40 degree weather is soooooo miserable.
Gee, now it's delayed because of snow showers? In October?
I can deal with this "cold" Florida weather. Got Beach?

Warmer in northern Maine tonight than northern Florida
Yes, now most of northern Florida is in a freeze warning. Looks like the only places in the southeast that will be spared from a freeze will be central/south Florida and coastal southeast North Carolina and down through coastal South Carolina and coastal Georgia.
Strange, but here in northeast Tennessee, we are milder than many places in northern Florida. We are still holding at 40°, but its mostly cloudy. We have not even had our first freeze yet at my house. I think that 35° has been our coldest low, but parts of west central GA has been much colder already. Newnan Georgia is already down to 30°.
Whats even more strange is that its warmer in northern Maine tonight that northern Florida. Caribou is reporting 50° and most of N FL is in the 30s. Even Daytona Beach is cooler @ 49°.
Its going to be a cold and frosty evening for N FL!
Up until this point, is everything still lush and green? I imagine so.. I was visiting relatives last weekend in upstate South Carolina and there everything was still all green. Will be interesting to see the reports in the morning from Florida.

Yeah, I was wondering on this thread and the other one about it being cold where the heck most of those folks disappeared to. It couldn't be that maybe they were exaggerating, could it? No, they're just "telling it like it is--giving people the facts".
