Default Record Cold coming to Florida

Record lows are expected tonight here in Central Florida~Record Cold Expected in Polk | theledger.com | The Ledger | Lakeland, FL. I have a few questions for the transplants and natives.

1) Why does Florida feel colder than the same temps up North ? I should be used to cold weather coming from the Northeast but it seems to affect me worse than even the natives. I'm dressed like an Eskimo right now .

2) Do you think we are in for a colder than normal winter this year ? This is just way too early to be hit with these cold temps.

3) Do Florida natives like these colds spells since it is a change in the weather? Some natives I speak to absolutely love it when it gets cold here but I'm curious about the others.

Yay!!!!!

it does seem to have gotten colder, sooner this year. But based on my own memory it is just getting back to normal. In the past few years we have had to wait until November for any fall weather (here in North Florida where we do actually have seasons).

This native does like it when it gets cold.

Answer to Question 1.
FL might feel colder than the same temps in the North because, 1st, you are not use to those temperatures, second, the humidity. When it is humid, the cold gets deeper into your bones and you do feel colder. It has the same effect as with heat, the higher the humidity in summer, the hotter it feels.

I'm a Florida native, but I definitely feel colder here than I did in NC when we would visit in the winter (Asheville). In fact, I used to remark that the temps in Asheville never felt as cold as they said, probably because of the way the cold feels here.

It is very cold for so early in the year, I have heard here and there that it will be a colder than normal winter for everyone - let's see what happens.

Personally I like a little brisk weather as long as we don't get long sustained really cold spells which ruin my tropical landscaping.

I am not a native but have been here for almost 20 years and I hate any cold weather.
If it never went below 75 I would be happy.

The Old Farmers Alamanac and the Farmers Almanac both predict a colder than normal winter for Florida.

I absolutely love the cool weather!

I went to work this morning freezing! Everyone laughed when I said, "Dang, I moved away from this weather!" I hope the rest of fall and winter are warmer than this. 75 is my idea of perfect winter weather. lol.
