^^^ The first picture up there Muggy (offenders everywhere), looks like where I live now, Orlando.

The bottom picture (far less offenders) looks like where I used to live, Asheville NC.

It is no secret that FL has a very transient population, and a lot of ppl here are criminals and sex offenders. It isnt a secret, I dont like it, the good ppl of FL dont like it, but FL has attracted a lot of low lifes. I am a native of the state, I still like it and defend it, but after living in Asheville NC for a while, I have seen how much FL has changed over the last 10-15 yrs, and it aint what it used to be.

This is the most important question about moving to Florida, "Do you have kids?" I didn't have kids when I moved here, I have a kid now and it is why I am leaving. If I return to Florida it will be in no less than 25 years or so.

Orlando's got that beat rather easily.

I already answered that in page 3. People let warmer winters and palm trees blind truth and reality. Most of us were there before too . When I first told friends and co-workers about my move to Florida they tried endlessly to talk me out of it. It went in one ear and out the other, now I understand what they were warning me about.
Like I said before; Florida is easy to move into but hard to get out of....

If you meant my snowbird comment , you are taking it out of context. Snowbirds are very valuable to the Florida economy and without them the state would be in even worse shape than it is now. I was inferring to the added traffic , packed stores, etc that come along with snowbirds in certain parts of the state.

1) Am I putting the interests of my family (children) first?
That question alone could be broken down into many subsections.......but only you will know the answer.

What areas are you considering? You would have to be more specific in order to get a more detailed answer. Otherwise we are forced to make generalizations about the state based on our own personal experiences.

I was in Orlando for 2 days recently. How anyone lives there is beyond me. I try to make sure I have a full tank of gas when I leave Pinellas so I don't have to go to any gas stations there.

I love these new smileys by the way and

Should you move to Florida?
Hell no!

(Before I upset Sunrico and the Panhandle crowd, I should state that my Florida disdain does not extend beyond Miami, Orlando & Tampa/St.Pete and the rural areas in between.)

Muggy, what about Orlando was so bad. I live here, dislike it, but would like to hear your take on it.

The distrust.

I stopped for a sandwich at a shop, and everyone in the plaza was eyeballing each other like a potential carjacker. I've never felt so creeped out. I really don't like being there.

Orlando is a dressed-up cess pool.

are these people carrying GUNS? Given the ease in Florida for just about anybody to buy a gun, it is very scary.

It does not help that Orlando has an extreme problem with violent gangs and inefficient law enforcement agencies. Gangs are taking control of the streets, which is why Compton California is safer than Orlando.
