this is the first time I have ever received one of these and when I called comcast they hadn't been made aware of it.

Karla, I apologize for the confusion. We have been aware of it.

Unfortunately, as MBMouse and MacGuy can attest to, these sort of e-mails are now a dime a dozen. An excellent rule of thumb is never respond to an e-mail that asks for personal information, such as social security numbers or bank information. Reputable companies and banks do not ask for this information through e-mail.

If you click on the little security badge at the top of the toolbar on comcast.net it will bring up a page that shows examples of the spam e-mail and an advisory.

You may also want to download our free McAfee security virus protection and spyware scan. It can be found by going to the homepage and clicking "customer benefits" on the left-hand side.

I've received a number of these "requests" in the past and always delete them. I don't think there's a single reputible co. that will request information like that via email. Good catch and thanks for the heads-up.

the guy I spoke to here in Jax must of missed the "meeting" he wasn't aware thats why he asked me to forward it to him.

allot of computer savey folks are aware of these "scams" but there are those out there that a warning now and then can't hurt
I am lucky that I am married to a computer guy so when he is home I can ask him. he wasnt when I got this email.
