The suprise is how the amendments went. I was responding to Bale's earlier question.

Default Kudos to Florida

for finally voting for the right candidate! I'd like to think in the future that the state doesn't vote the same as say Oklahoma or South Dakota or West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky

I'm sure Florida will turn back red in 2012. McCain just didn't inspire enough conservative voters this time.

I too see this as the compromise eventually. I suppose right now both sides are too immature to reach that compromise.

Though it is true that many people only focus on the presidential election, a significant portion of people also realize that government and elections are comprehensive terms, they embrace the three branches of government, as well as the plebiscites, at the federal, state, county, and local levels.

Therefore, we need to view the results in this framework before concluding that this or that state went "blue".

For example, it is quite obvious that in many cases the same voter who voted Obama in Florida also voted a republican State House representative, yes to the anti-property tax referenda, and against recognizing gay marriage in the other referendum question (already I can't remember if a no or yes vote was for or against).

We can draw many conclusions. I hope the upshot from all this is common-sense and moderation on all sides.

I'm just glad this election is over. If you don't like who won then you have another opportunity to vote that person out in 2012.

I am just happy that Obama won. He didn't even NEED Florida for that.

As far as all the local candidates, I didn't vote for any of them. I don't particularly care how Florida is run. I have no vested interest in it since I don't intend to stay.
