We are looking for a neighborhood but one that each house has a little bit of land......not houses on top of each other.

Does that exist??

We also hope for plenty to get out and do, without a far drive.
I am a real estate appraiser and my husband is a carpenter.
I would think if you want plenty of work for you both, the closer to a big city the better.

In Jacksonville, you can live well inside the city limits - just a couple of miles from downtown even - and have an acre-sized lot. The more desirable the area, the higher the cost, of course. It all depends on your budget, but we have some gorgeous neighborhoods in the middle of it all where you can have a big house on a big lot .
