on a cruise in January 2006. The temperatures never got to 70 degrees there. ROFL Give it up for a few days. By next week your beloved SW Florida will be back pushing 80 degrees by the weekend.

How would you take your van (home) to Barbados?

WARNING: Extreme cold front coming through Florida -- shock to bodily system
When??? Far as I'm concerned, the weather here is finally livable! I hope it sticks around for a while.

Your van just won't reach that destination, unless you hire Jesus to drive
So here's the place for you:
Costa Rica lures new wave of retirees | HeraldTribune.com | Southwest Florida's Information Leader
And it even has mountains you've once longed so much for . Yeah, your last experience with mountains would rather be forgotten . But these are "normal" mountains, nothing like NH

I won't need the van--I'll get around on a scooter like the locals. It's called going native.
As for Costa Rica, I'm so sorry but...mountainous = COLD , so forget it!

I actually just moved out of Florida to return to my home state of Connecticut... but I remember laughing like a maniac during my first Floridian "cold snap" when the weather man said "protect your plants, pipes, and person." Um, pipes don't freeze at 35 degrees! LOL!
Now that I'm back in CT though and cold and miserable knowing that this isn't even the worst of it (today got up to about 40 degrees), I'm missing those weather warnings on days that the high won't make it to 60.....

Pipes do freeze at 32 degrees though and many areas of Florida do get below 32 degrees. Water pipes are also not buried 6 feet deep like up north either.
Add to that the fact that many homes are on well water and the pipes come up out of the ground and you will have many people with frozen pipes.
It will be getting down to 29-30 here tonight so everyone, protect your plants, pipes and person.
Don't know if it was mentioned but if you are in a northern county that is expecting freezing temps just leave a faucet dripping slightly. This slow movement of water through the pipes stops them from freezing up most times.
