Default Most liberal/progressive city in the state?

Not just based on the %age that vote for Democrats in a given year (in that case, I suppose that Quincy/Gadsden County would take the gold, lol!) More a general mentality thing. Most progressive on taxation, civil rights, social justice, environmental issues, etc. etc.

I'd just like to see an open discussion about what people think, and why. I personally would say either Key West or Fort Lauderdale, but I'm probably biased for Fort Lauderdale since I live there .

I would hope that the hordes of Florida-haters wouldn't overrun this thread like they do every other civil discussion on the state but what can you say, they're like roaches in this state during the summer, can't get rid of them no matter what you try .

I guess it depends on your definition of progressive. Here in Maine the liberals over the last 40 years have "progressed" the state right into the ground. Is that what you mean?

I'd say Tallahassee, although I'd expect that Gainesville would be in the running.

tallahassee...overall. some other cities might have more stuff, or e.g. more gay populations, but not as a percent of the people living there nor the governments, parks, etc.
though if you get outside the city, that changes in a hurry.

I always remember and today hear that North Florida, ESP. the panhandle were extremely conservative...

If I was to pick the most liberal city in the state it would be St. Pete.
