Default About to be a new resident

So I am the first to put a post in the Spring Hill forum. I am currently having a house built there (now I live in Virginia Beach, VA), and will be retiring to Spring Hill probably in the summer of 2007. I'd love to talk to any folks there, particularly anyl living in Wellington at Seven Hills, where our house is being built. I hope to hear from someone soon. Please feel free to respond to my email as well as here.

Spring Hill is a good place, but alot of sink holes. That's true for most of Hernando County. You might want to check out Removed - URL not valid to get some info from the people there and to find out things.

Unhappy Sink Hole

cmeb-

"Hi, what exactly in is a sink hole?"

a Sink hole is an area that the ground just drops away, or caves IN !

2 likely causes are buried garbage that has decayed & left a void, later caving in.
Or a water line break underground, again w/surrounding ground sinking in !

If it happens at a house & house sinks very much, it is deemed un-inhabitable & un-safe.

The best site to check out and learn about sinkhole is "www.sinkholes.com". It is a forum like this and has many people from the Hernando County area. Florida is riddled with areas that are suscepible to sinkhole formation, especially Hernando County, which also accounts for their insurance increase. A few have been forced to take Citizens Ins. at a very high cost or lose their homes. One of the causes of sink holes is the water between to supporting plates has been depleted by use or draught, leaving a hollow cavity. This emptiness causes the top plate to crack and open. During a rain storm the rain water washes the top soil thru the crack causing a sinkhole. Some sinkholes can be a small problem, others can destroy your home. Generally they can be repaired with concrete plugs when found, but generally they are found after the damage is done.
