Default help me plan my trip

Hi evreryone ! I'm currently planning a golf vacation in florida with some of my friends. We tought about going in the orlando area because it seems to have everything we wanted ( alot of golf course, Hotel at reasonable price and a dog track not to far in sanford ) but since i started reading on this forum the only thing i see is dont go to orlando the city is becoming more and more violent. So now i request your help to find a good location where we could be safe and play golf and go to the dog races, the only area im familiar with is the vero beach, fort pierce area because my grand ma had a home in spanish lakes CCV in fort pierce. The trip should take place in november.

Check out Disney Property. It's a bit costly, but quite beautiful and relatively safe. I've been here since 1984, I've seen our crime rates go through the roof, but this is still a great place for vacation. On Disney property and surrounding areas, you'll find what you're looking for. As in all Metro places, always play it safe, and don't take that you're at "Disney" for granted.
Hope this little bit helps.

you could come to Jacksonville there are some really nice courses and remember the TPC at sawgrass is nice thats where they have the Players championship , they also have good golfing at Amelia island and fernadina beach
and there is a dog track here they race live at Orange Park kennel club
there is also a poker room at the St johns dog track about 20 mins away (they don't have the live racing there just simulcast)
and you could also do a deep sea fishing trip
and the "world golf village hall of fame" is about 25 mins form JAX

Default St. Augustine

Jacksonville is a huge city, it encompasses the entire county, so you'd be in the car a lot, unless you're staying at one of the resorts where you're going to play. If you're flying in, Jax airport is great, a breeze to get in and out of.

World Golf Village is just north of St. Aug. on I-95 and Sawgrass is about 1/2 hour north on A1A, in Ponte Vedre - beautiful, but pricey! Tons of courses everywhere, though. There's a website with a lot of golf info for the area:
www.getaway4florida.com
They have golf packages, which could save you some $.

Downtown St. Aug is full of restaurants, bars and attractions, all within walking distance of each other. It's touristy, but not cheesy. Dog tracks in Daytona & Jax.

Hope you have fun!

johnny boy - please take what you read on this forum and the Florida thread with a big pinch of salt. Remember what you read here represents a small sampling of the total population.

There are superb golf courses in Florida - Jacksonville - Palm Beach - Miami - Orlando - Weston - Naples and so forth.
