Staying out of the pit bull debate because I have seen some very loving pitts and some pretty nasty ones.........I think it's about how they are raised though.

But the questions was asked about dogs on the beaches in Florida. Flagler Beach does allow leashed dogs everywhere except from North 10th Street South to South 10th Street.

Matanzas Inlet also allows leashed dogs.

The Humane Society in Flagler County does not automatically put pit bulls down- they evaluate their temperment and will adopt them out if they are deemed safe pets. I know of three people who have adopted a total of 5 pits or pit mixes from there and they are very happy with the dogs.

Dogs are only trained- they do what they are taught. Dade County had to ban them because PEOPLE were abusing the dogs and using them for profit /dogfighting. This is now a federal crime.

PitBullMom- your dogs are adorable. The puppy is so cute.

Everyone stay on topic please the subject is pit legislation. No pers attacks. Thanks.

Wolftraxs is on a distinguished road
Dear pitbullmommie1206, Myself and my friend here TNPainthorse commend you on your bull terriers! They are so sweet and cute! Also just to let you know that our friend has one named Diesiel and he loves cats and dogs he only seems to be aggressive around other bull terriers (could be because he was a Fight dog rescue). But I love your little posters. Wonder, where can I find those I would like to have copies of them made..
I especially like the Sgt. Stubby one and the racial profiling one..lol I love those.. they are great. I also like that you and I seem to have the same outlook on all animals Responsability and Respect! I have one of the other types of "dangerous doggie types" I have a couple of Wolfhybrids one 70% and another 80% My female is Alpha and does not except the male so lol neither is fixed but no worries on the puppies..HAHAHA! At least as long as she does not choose him. I read the stats on this breed as well and this breed has only attacked a person when it was in preditory mind set (in other words; they were not being fed or not being fed the right diet.) The reason I bring this up is because, You mentioned body language in one of the post. I recently had trouble with my Female (being Alpha) with attacking all the other dogs in the back yard all together I had 6 dogs. One time in specific she attacked the beagle that she had been friends with since she came here.
she and this beagle were the first two dogs here. Actually the beagle was first. Well to make a long story short a friend moved in with me her dog had 8 puppies and then she moved out, for the sake of trying to find homes and it costing each of us less I agreed to take three of them two were to already have homes. The puppies grew up they were Wirehaired terrier/golden retriever and Rottwieler mixes due to hurricane damage to my fence I have to keep my jumper dogs Tied (20 foot leads that go in a 360o circumfrance) When they are done running around they are wore out believe me! and when I am outside I let them off the leads. One day my Female Hybrid attacked the beagle luckily I was home and was able to stop it of course my Hybrid recognizes me as Alpha, Also so does my male. What I didn't know and found out in the month to come what changed my Hybrid is; The other two mixed female puppies were constantly antagonizing her and trying to steal her food and then would stand outside her lead radius and nip at her knowing she could not get them. Dogs (there is research to confim what I am about to write) do not ever completely establish Alpha with dogs it is consistantly up for competition, Wolves however once the last Alpha Dog Challenge is made and thier hierarchy established they respect and stay within those boundries
(For instance when I was given My hybrid she was my 4th but my first female she began challenging me for Alpha standing at 8 months she would growl at me or she would step on my feet take things away from me or not let me near her dish) It is important to always be in an Alpha standing with wolfhybrids "But they are not good indoor dogs" unless you have a sofa that you don't want!! LOL So I did what any Wolf would do I wrestled her to the ground and with her feet in the air and my hand on her throat (no choking! Just holding) till she stoped struggling I showed her my teeth and growled at her till she got the point From 8 months till 10 months I had to do this a total of 5 times. She is 3 years old now has not ever had to have this done again and will listen only to me she also will not let any of the other dogs eat untill I go into the house. This is their way Alpha establishes dominance over the food. Only after Alpha is done eating can they eat since she is second in command she takes it as responsbility to see the other dogs fall into order.
Anyway back to body language I know when my dog is going to attack and dogs will show simular body language. My dog will hold her head high (as if trying to be bigger then the other animal) or some how show her magiesty hair between shoulders and along back standing (however does this when excited too) she will look the other animal straight in the eye and wait for them to move. Then she attacks them or tries too. After I got rid of the other dogs she turned back in to her somewhat playful doggie behaviour she only seems to get Bossy when she is challenged just as when she challenged me. I tell my children all the time what to look for in a dog to tell if it is friend or foe.. First Head held high coming at you in a quick trot going to attack! Make a noise & Pick up a rock. Head low growling with its tail down waiting to see if it needs to attack, or sizing you up for an attack walk away slowly don't stare directly in its eyes (this is doggie challenge BTW) and don't turn and run if it should start after you make a loud annoying noise like a buzzer and say no pick up a rock. If it is with someone do not pet it unless the owner says it is ok. If it looks scared tail down almost in a ball standing up leave it alone it may bite to protect itself. tail wagging head down tilted to side usually show of friendliness still be cautious. Now what to do with that rock. If the dog does not scare or does bite you offer it the opposite of your strongest arm when it gets a good hold on your arm (yes it will hurt) smash its sinus cavity with the rock it will let go to breathe if your not stong enough to smash the cavity generally it will hurt the dog enough for it to run away. "DO NOT DO THIS TO A POLICE DOG!" if you are doing something for a police dog to bite you go directly to jail do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars!.. My step father used to train police dogs I know all about this body language.. And my Hybrid exhibits it with every other dog in the yard, usually My hybrid will just leave to avoid those that make her uncomfortable she has only snaped at one man and from that point I watch him like a hawk because she did not trust him.. GREAT WITH CHILDREN BTW!! Every kid in the neighborhood likes her.

Thank you for your post! Its always nice to hear that someone read what you posted, its GREAT to hear that someone enjoyed it and agreed with it .. lol.. I have a friend that has a german shepard/ husky mix and a german shepard/ wolf mix.. They are both wonderful dogs! I have always wanted a wolf hybrid, but I have heard they are a handful! Its enough just dealing with our two american pit bull terriers! lol.. They are great dogs and we wouldnt trade them for the world but.. they are a handful! We are constintly having to show them that we are the "pack leaders"... It makes me really happy to hear that you agree with me about owners (of ANY breed) being responsible and respectful! Thats wonderful! If more owners would just do that, there wouldnt be nearly as many attacks... You sound like you are a great owner and your dogs are lucky to have you! .. As for the posters, I really dont remember where I got all of them, but I will post them here for you and all you have to do is just right click on the poster and then save it..(or you can right click and print it out right then..) then you can go into your pictures, find the poster you want and print it out. If I didnt post one here that you want, just let me know! Thanks again for your post and keep up the good work!

~Kim, Brooklyn and Destiny!~

Yes, I agree yet again. It is nice to have someone read your post and it is even nicer when an intelligent person (forgive bad spelling please) responds and I am sure it is equally nice when the original person who asked the questions and began it feels better when they find out that they are not alone! I love all animals. I may not be fond of those squaking birds, song birds yes! sqaukers no! But I still love them all! And I have the proper respect for each individual animal. You know what gets me (you mentioned this as I did in one of my posts) man created the American Bull Terrier as did we create most of the dog breeds of today. It amazes me that we will chastize someone for trying to act like God "GreatSpirit" yet man himself the minut they feel they made a mistake on what they created will feel they have a right to destroy it in its intirety? If that is not a God complex I don't know what is. I mean lets look at this in realistic form, If it grows, breaths, eats and has blood it is a living thing. Yet we will get angry about an abortion but not angry over someone puting an animal down? It is still killing something. You want to read something interesting? Read Exodus Chpt 21 in the bible the Ordinances for the people.. If you change ox to dog alot of irresponsible pet owners would be dead.. Then read Leviticus Chapter 24 Verse 17-21, about harming an animal or another person. Anyway, It is interesting what the world has come to be now.
It is great to see people that realize all creation is important.

I am glad to see these posts- people caring about the dogs- Anyone even suspecting dog-fighting in Dade County should report it immediately-it is a felony there.

My vet and I have had spoken about pits many times, he doesn't trust them himself. He does say they can be very loyal to their owners, which I can vouch for as our rednose is very loyal, but I would never turn my back on him. Well, my dog was attacked because someone forgot that the jack was outside and they let the pit out, well, it ran right for the jack to kill/play with it. It is really sad that people way back when breed these dogs to fight, and continues to happen today. I agree these people are the reason this breed is the way it is. It is so unfortunate that these breeds have this mentality, because they were probably great dogs, before people got involved. The pit that attacked my dog, wasn't raised to dislike other animals was never trained was never abused, it was his animal instinct that was bred into the breed. When I have gone to the dog parks in the past, most of the breeds there get along with one another, it is when a pitbull owner brings their pit to the park, that tensions arise between dogs and the owners, not always of course. After watching a pit attack a golden retriever show dog 10 years ago at a park. I usually leave the park when a pit shows up sad to say, just in case. Other breeds have issues, no doubt, but pits are so powerful and can do more damage IMO. I know not all pits are mean, but they have this preception about them for a reason.

The laws accross the country banning this breed are there to protect people, children, and other animals. I wish even though we have a pit, the police would do more to enforce the laws, cops when they see a pit in my county where they are illegal do nothing unless the dog harms something/someone or untill it is to late. Don't get me wrong I love animals, but animals that have a higher chance of attacking someone/something I can do with out.
