Default Leesburg, or inexpensive Fl mobile in good locale

I have an opportunity to buy a mobile/doublewide in Leesburg in an over 55 community very near a place called Lifestream which concerns me as it appears to be a rehab or mental facility. I'm coming from a small town where there are no bad areas or any crime to speak of so the location of this facility and the crime rate in general there worry me.

The unit appears to be clean and would be for a winter place and the monthly fees and purchase price are more affordable (a necessity) than in other locales in Florida. There's a good cardio hospital in town and I really like the culture, shops, and restaurants in nearby Mt Dora. I'm familiar with the coasts but any suggestions as to affordable places that would be suitable anywhere in the state in general or specifically would be great. Thanks

Found someone I knew who used to live close by, so guess we'll be going to try it out.

Sgoldie,
Welcome to Leesburg, although I'm not there right now. I do own a home there though.

Not knowing the park you are buying into, I could not comment on your question. I know a couple of places though that are very nice...like Hawthorne, etc.

Please keep us posted on your new adventure. I'm very interested.

Maybe we should get together.

Sgoldie,
We won't be back down there until May....but I am counting the days.
It is currently 9 degrees here, and I need to go snowblow my driveway.

Lifestream has ten locations within Leesburg. They all look like nicely maintained places. I do not know where you would be, seeing that there are ten of them.

I would suggest that you perhaps visit the area, if you have not already done so. With the real estate market being what it is now, there are some good deals out there.

If the location is a concern for you, perhaps you may want to check out other places in the area, like Hawthorne or Ridgemont, or even Spanish village, right next to The Plantation. You may find that there are other opportunities that are just as good as the one you are looking at. Heck, I saw a deal last October where a person was desperate to sell their VERY NICE home in a gated, 55+ golf community, great neighborhood, that two years ago would have gone for over $150k.....did not get any bidders at the starting bid of $88k.......unbelievable. I'm sure there are good deals also in the double-wide/mobile market.

I have personally been in Hawthorne......very impressive!!!

Hi Sgoldie

I'm not familiar with the Lifestream area. My in-laws have lived in and enjoyed Leesburg for about 20 years. They lived in a mobile-home park on Lake Griffin. It's a great location, especially if you are into boating or fishing, you may be interested. My FIL has passed away and the family has the place for sale. There is more info online, but i' don't know if i am allowed to post an external link (?)
