This little tete e tete with you has not been fun either. And not because you aren't amusing. On the contrary, it's very funny because you and your like minded friends have proven that stripped down to the fundamentals, you have nothing to go on but your "feelings" and own emotions. That sort of thing doesn't win a high school debate, let alone lend itself well to debate that mandates facts and figures.
Of course, many on here are not looking for facts. Only others who share their feeelings so as to make themselves feel better about their current positions in life and their malcontedness. I have no patience for those who would rather flee than fix what is wrong. Chances are when the next place they run to has any bit of problem, they'll be looking for the next new big thing.

Sorry, what? "Shame?" Sounds like you've got a personal problem that is better suited for a couch at the psychiatrist's office than an online forum.

Again, however, moral consistency appears to have left the room when emotions set up shop with you people. But, I see it's fne for you to "sit back and make" jokes about black people, but god forbid someone likewise make fun of your precious noble hillbillies. You'll never be one of them. You can stop pretending. Oh, and for the record, my great grandfather was a real hillbilly (not some wannabe Florida transplant) from the hills of Kentucky/Tennessee, but he left in the early 1900s to the North to escape (in his words) their "ignorance" and "backwardness." I have no intention at this point to ever retrace his steps back by choice. Enjoy it if it makes you feel "genuine" or "real" in some way, however. I'll take a jetski over an ATV ANYDAY of the week. -- like today!

My neighbors are doing just fine, thank you. But, therein lies the fundamental flaw with your argument. What "you" perceive is that everything is "fine" and "prosperous" in Tennessee. You'll rag on Florida without flinching at the irony that Tennessee has a higher crime rate, lower ranked schools overall, and is 11th in the nation in foreclosure rates. TENNESSEE. Where houses are supposedly dirt cheap, people still couldn't hold onto them. At least in Florida a vast number of foreclosures are flippers who caught the wrong end of the bubble. Who in their right mind flips in Tennessee? Tennessee is where you go to buy 10 acres for $10,000.00 20 miles from the nearest Super Walmart and two hours from the nearest big city.
You'll make excuses for Tennessee until the cows come home, and rationalize away all problems. Yet, you will offer no such luxury, and have no patience to rationalize and excuse for Florida, when many of the same rationalizations can and are found. You may not know you're doing it, but it's glaringly obvious to everyone else.
Florida and Tennessee's unemployment rate is also a mere .3 points away from each other. So yes! Prosperity for all in Tennessee!

Sorry, the POINT of the article, which I could have illustrated by posting another link, such as this one:
http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lis..._unemployment/
.... is that FLORIDA has a high unemployment rate, but the half back meccas of NC, SC and GA etc. ALREADY have higher unemployment rates.
Funny how you jump on my posts, but have no words then for the other posters who falsely claimed the crime and job situation is better in their deep south alternatives to Florida.
But, I think many have missed the basic premise of the aricle from the start. Florida did not lose population. More people left than moved in, but population rose naturally and from external immigration. It's not the end of the world. It's been that way in the Northeast states for years and years and years. As a previous poster mentioned, with projections for FL population at 30 million within a couple of decades, a slow down in internal migration to Florida is actually well needed so Florida infrastructure can catch up with the lightning growth over the past few years.

I like how some folks like to argue this TN vs FL crime/congestion/schools argument and I bet some folks havent even spent much time in the area mentioned. You move here from NJ or NY and now live in FL, and now you wanna compare it to TN and you probably even havent spent any significant time there. I have and TNRyan has, so you can take what we say with a grain of salt, but I think we may know a little more than what you can find on the 'net.

Lol, didn't you just go to college in NC? That is NOT the same thing as owning a home and holding down a job in an area. Besides, you are constantly giving your opinion about South Florida, and last I checked, you have never owned a home here nor held a job here.
And I think you are missing the point: PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND FEELINGS DO NOT TRUMP STATISTICS!! If you want to say that you "feel" safer in TN vs. FL, even though the stats say you are more likely to be murdered there than here, then FINE. But don't make the false statement that crime is actually better, when far more people in general are being victimized by crime THERE than HERE. I live in a dangerous zip code, because the Northern reaches includes part of the ghetto. My mother's house, in a city with a LOT less crime rate a little up the coast (PSL - used to be America's safest city of its size) has been broken into before, while mine has not. Is anyone ACTUALLY going to argue that WPB has less crime than PSL based on the experiences of me and my mother?
If my home is burglarized three times in a year, but overall, there were only five burglaries in total in my town, WHO is better to give a snapshot at what crime is? Me on a forum, angry that I've been targeted, and yammering about how bad the crime is in my town, or the police website showing that only five burglaries total have occurred?
Some of you lament lack of job opportunities in Florida, and I'm beginning to suspect there's an intelligence deficit at work greater than any forces of the economy keeping some people from getting good jobs. SHEESH.

Wrong. No I didnt just go to college in NC, I lived there for like half of my life. I held down several jobs and lived in several places throughout western NC. Please dont throw around comments you know nothing about.
PS - I was born in WPB, and I lived there. It's been a while since I've lived there. But I still have family there and I do visit. I honestly could never live down there again. (The only exception I could think of would be like Palm City or Stuart, or Vero Bch, but I dont really consider that S FL).

I have a good job, for now. I dont know how much longer my job will be intact, but hopefully I will not be affected by this economy. If you start seeing me post in the middle of the day on a day other than the weekend/holiday, that could be a bad sign.

Again, are you now suggesting that you lived in Tennessee, too?

Sometimes It's best to walk away and let the baby have his/her bottle, It's not worth the argument. Don't allow yourself to be dragged down to a fight with someone that has no clue what they're talking about.
