It's been quite a few years since we made our yearly excursion to Disney and I'm sure things may have changed.

What I want to know is if we drive there for the day and park in the parking lot (is there a charge for this?) can we take a shuttle for free to one of the hotels in order to walk around the premises and maybe get a meal without paying for entrance to the park? Can we also use the transport boats and tram without charge to go from one hotel property to another?

I don't know the answer to all of your questions but I think you might get a better response if you post in the Orlando section. That's where the Mickey crowd hangs out

Have a great trip to Disney!

Parking is $11 or $12 a day now at most of the theme parks. At Disney, as long as you have tickets or room card keys you can use the monorails, boats, etc. If you eat at one of the hotels you can valet park for a fee or park for 3 hours with a pass in your windshield.

parking is free only with a DVC ID card.

as for the question about getting food w/o paying for entrance to the park; i'm not entirely sure what you mean. if you want to go into the park to eat, you have to buy a ticket to get in.

Unless they go to Downtown Disney.

As stated it's over $10

Yes. From the transportation center you can ride the monorail and ferries for free to any resort you can reach. IIRC the buses are free too (haven't used them in a long time, though!). You may have to "change cars" as it were, but you can get there. You still have to pay to park. There may be a way to

You sure can.

You can also go to the front of the cars and wait to ride in the front of the monorail- my kids love it!

6 more weeks until my annual pilgrimage to the Mouse!

Ok, for the price of a parking pass ($11-12) I can take the tram, bus, or boats for free to or between any of the hotels to eat (without going into the entertainment parks themselves) and also go on to any of the other hotels from there for the rest of the day without further cost. Sounds like a full day trip to me.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the bus, but the rest-yes. Enjoy!

Downtown Disney has free parking and it is very frowned upon to park there and go to a park, however if you're going to resort hop and eat in a restaurant at a resort, not as much. And yes transportation is free everywhere you go,monorails, buses, boats!!If you are going to park at a park to resort hop I suggest parking at the Transportation Ticket center ( AKA Magic Kingdoms parking lot) or EPCOT since you can access the monorail lines from those.I would park at the TTC,tour the Magic Kingdom area hotels on the resort monorail line and the Wilderness Lodge by boat. Then you can get off the monorail at the Magic Kingdom and take a bus to the Boardwalk area to tour those hotels.
