I agree- crime can happen anywhere and really I don't look at that as a reason for staying out of Florida. The job issues and insurance are the problem- If I were 100% retired I would choose to live in northern Fl (NEVER S Florida again!)

Orlando will never "become Detroit or Boston"; Boston has infrastructure, excellent schools; different demographics and much wider selections of jobs than Orlando ever will. I don't know Detroit but my understanding is that is the result of our collapsing auto industry in this country.
