Default We are coming to Fla in May -camping w/ our dog-what do we need to do about biting insects

We are hoping to camp at the state parks- and tour around a bit, but I've read the FWC's magazine and there was an article on chiggers. They don't sound like much fun for people, but since our dog is coming along I would imagine it would be worse. We like to hike and bike and plan to be outdoors most of the time- what precautions should we take. Thanks so much.

Just pick up some advantix and bug n' out, advantix works for 4 weeks at a time but the bug n' out you need to put on daily.

Comfortis is good for fleas on dogs. It's a once a month pill, instead of the Advantix oily stuff.

Chiggers are awful-if they bite you. The itch something fiece and you get red marks where they burrow in.. The way to kill them is to put a dab of clear nail plish on each red mark and the chigger will die quickly.

Default will the chiggers bother the dog?

I will have to check into the other items listed. We don't have a problem w/ fleas here-just ticks.

Chiggers can sometimes bother dogs. That is why I suggested the Bug n' Out.
The Advantix will take care of fleas, ticks, mosquitos and other biting flies but not chiggers.
