While it is a good mix, cities like Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, etc... are losing their southern charm due to all the transplants from the North, but the thing about FL, (unlike TN and GA), is that it's harder to find that southern charm.

That's true but it'll change soon enough. Just living here the last 10 or so years I can see a major change in the city I moved to versus the city I currently live. Our population is booming and most of our new residents are from the West Coast, North East, and Florida. Fortunately, Not all of them are bringing the things with them that they're running from in their other states.
Here, It's a good mix. I just hope that with all the new residents It doesn't get too much of one thing or another. One local news guy predicted that by 2020, Nashville would be the size of Atlanta. I'm not sure I really see it but I know there has been talks at one time or another to build a high-speed rail between Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Nashville but it'll never happen.

True!
You are right, Nashville has many transplants but it's different from Florida. The ones moving to Nashville are usually professionals and aren't running away from somewhere else. That brings a higher class element to the area. The transplants in Tennessee are so much nicer than the ones I met in Florida (generally speaking of course).

I have know two natives of Tennesee. One of my bridemaid's was from Columbia. The teacher I used to work with was from a small town outside of Memphis. Very nice people. I really liked both of them.
Actually, I have liked the native Floridians I have met also. It's the transplants to Florida I cannot stand, even my fellow "former" New Yorkers. We only have our place of birth in common, period.

Columbia is a great little city, A customer and friend who was a hotshot lawyer from New Jersey decided to retire to Columbia and he loves it there. He has a house on top of a huge hill and he can probably see 40-50 miles from his back porch.

BINGO! A lot of the transplants up there are from FL, or long-time residents who just dont like the major changes FL has gone through.

TANaples, I know what you mean. I think FL just attracts a lot of the folks from NY that arent as pleasant, maybe the nice ones stay in NY? I dont know.
But it definitely makes a statement when you say what you said about fellow NY'ers. I cant say the same for native Floridians because usually they are friendly!
Kudos to TANaples!

If you are looking for a "southern" area of Florida, go to Bay County. Lots of beer drinkin', fishin', muddin', confederate flags, Browning and "NObama" stickers to go around! Have fun!
Not to mention the months from February to May when you can't go to the beaches because the spring breakers are busy making their parents proud!!

Sounds fine to me, so what's your point? Obviously the " " is meant to imply that these are negative attributes? Not to me.
