SW FL or SE FL is "more like NY, NJ, and the Caribean?" Did you mean to say SE FL?

It may feel like that because of the language, but from what people say about the attitudes of the people, those are not native PR's. The island is a beautiful place to live and the people are very humble.

I'm interested in knowing which he meant as well. I hear SW is much more midwestern like than the SE. Also, I hear it is much more humid in the SW than the SE due to the ocean breezes, can anyone confirm?

I live in Lakeland and people do have Southern accents here but more and more we are getting people from everywhere moving in. I guess it is because it is halfway between Tampa and Orlando. I don't think people should be all lumped into one category. I know what people say about people from NYC and how rude they are but I have met people from NYC who were the opposite of that type. I try to take each people as they come, the good the bad and the what the heck are you doing here anyway.

That is a fantastic attitude to have. If only everyone lived by that motto. I've been told that I'm unusually nice to a native NYer, but I have lots of friends just like me here. I just think that people have to unwind a bit when leaving the city and for some the unwinding takes a bit longer and some really are just jerks and use the city as an excuse for being a complete a$$. I won't tell you that I can't be nasty, cuz I can be, but I would never just be nasty for the sake of being nasty - where do you get with that? NO WHERE in a hurry. Some people like to push buttons to see how far you will bend though, I'm not very flexible so, that route doesn't last long with me. However, I haven't had that experience YET in Florida - I guess I have been fortunate. And boy does it feel good to not always have to be on the defensive side of things.

I discovered as I am getting older that getting upset about how people act just isn't worth my time. Life is too short to waste it on. A woman I know who at 80 something makes me laugh because whenever she encounters someone who is rude no matter where they come from. She tells them bless your heart did your mamma wean you too soon? That usually shocks them a bit and then they realize what an ass they were being.

To me Chelsa, SW FL feels hotter than anywhere. In the summer, to me and my wife atleast, it was the hottest we've ever been, even at night it was miserable. Beads of sweat dripping off our foreheads walking around in Sarasota at 9pm.

I'll second that. You forgot to mention your toes even sweat. Its so humid today due to the rain coming I can't see out my windows in my house but I can't complain we need the rain so bad.

It has been getting hotter in Florida a lot earlier than it used to be. Just walking from my car to the door at my job made me want to go and take another shower.
A tip that works in hot weather is before you step out of the shower run the cold water as cold as you can stand it. It will close up your pores and help with the sweating. Another is keep your blinds or curtains closed during the days so the rooms won't get much sun.
