You know it funny you say that cuz, my brother-in-law has his windows tinted - on the house. At first I was like wow it is so dark outside and then finally I saw the tint.

This Sunday is predicted to be 90 degrees and humid in Naples. It's only the beginning of April. Taste of things to come.
I have lived in central Florida and visited the SE coast. The humidity is worse on the gulf coast, which makes it feel much hotter than the actual temps.
Besides which, even the water temps are hotter in the middle of summer than the ocean. Last July, as an example, the air temp was 95 degrees and the water temp was 89 degrees. Too hot to cool off in the water. My daughter said it was like a hot tub. She said she would rather take a cold shower than go in the beach water in July.

What I don't get are people who jog during the hottest part of the day. I want to be in shape but dang I don't want to have a heart attack to do it.
The tinted windows is a good idea and it does keep the rooms cooler.
During the hurricane that came through Polk County the electricity went off and it got really hot. We couldn't open the windows because of the hurricane so it was miserable. You never realize how much you appreciate a simple thing like air conditioning until it is gone.

If you're talking about Charley in 04, I was in Orlando for that one and can say I'm with you, THAT was miserable. I was lucky, It only lasted a few days. My poor wife spent almost 2 weeks stuck in a skyscraper building in New Orleans during Katrina. I couldn't imagine being stuck in a building surrounded by water in a Louisiana summer.

Certain parts of Florida are the deep south
And the only part of Florida that is not the South is Miami
I hate to break it to the Florida residents, but you are considered SOUTHERN!!!

TNRyan23 is was Charley. If I am remembering correctly didn't we get at least 4 hurricanes within a short period of time and Charley was one of them. I felt bad for my co-workers that had to wait before their roofs were fixed.
Your poor wife, I can't imagine what the people there went through. We were very lucky compared to them.

Charley wasn't a picnic, I remembered thanking god that I had a 4x4 Jeep Cherokee after that hurricane went through because a small little Dodge Duster like my dad had wouldn't have gotten over the downed tree limbs and debris we had all over the neighborhood. I was lucky that after it passed, I got to go out and cruise the area and look at the damages.
Not to get too off subject but my wife said the morning they were rescued, She woke up to a national guard remember sticking an M-16 in her face like she was a criminal and ordered them all to come along peacefully.

What a way to wake up!
I remember when the electricity came back on how the weather guy on a local station said how thrilled they were that Tampa didn't get hit by the hurricane. Forget the fact that Polk County was hit hard by it. I guess someone during the break said something to him because when they came back he said he was sorry for the people in Polk County. Yeah right.

Obviously you've never been in the panhandle!! Much of our local news even comes out of Dothan, AL. We are only about an hour SOUTH of Alabama...this part of Florida is practically Alabama...I can't speak for the other parts of Florida though, they are probably completely different from this area.
