As other posters said... the further south you go the more 'northern' you become. The further north you go the more 'southern' you become.

Trust me, I have lived in NC. Nowhere near the bad driving here in FL. Not even close. But, if any state knows about how people move in and cant drive, it's FL.

We're in our last month or so here in FL, and I feel lucky to escape the roads alive. I thought I had seen it all in California...boy was I wrong. A quick rundown of who you face each day on the Gainesville, Florida roads:
-country folk in giant trucks, driving fast
-country folks in beat up vehicles, driving slow
-broodmare soccer moms in giant suv's, swerving around with their litter in the back while trying to hold on to the cell phone and Starbucks.
-ghettomobiles bumping and thumping (and smoking) down the road, probably without insurance
-spoiled college students careening obliviously about town
-idiots on bicycles.
Probably the worst is when you're on the turnpike in a torrential downpour, passing wreck after wreck, and you still see these tards in suv's screaming past you at 85.

I'm convinced the reason for this are those abysmal "Lists of America's Greatest Places For You to Move To!!!!" that proliferate these days. I know for a fact that people in cities like Portland, Seattle, and Charlotte hate seeing their city names come up. Once people from the midwest, northeast, and California see them, there's no stopping the flood.

Most people I know here in Tennessee don't mind the Midwesterners, Northerners, and in some cases, even the Californians.. Alot of people I know HATE to see Floridians come up here. Bad driving, Constant complaints, Constant talking about how everything sucks compared to the greatness that is " FLORIDA " until you ask them why they left and why don't they go home. I NEVER tell anyone I meet that I'm from Florida. Luckilly, I've been here for 10 years so my arrogant rudeness has worn off, Atleast my non-messageboard self.

Yeah, I forgot about the Floridians moving north. I hear a lot about that from family in SC.

LOL, that sounds pretty easy to deal with, compared to what I see in Orlando.

^^^ TNRyan and Lagoon7, those would be called half-backs, not true native Floridians. To be honest, and this isnt a knock b/c I am one myself, but many native Floridians (for the most part, especially the older ones you see up in NC/SC/TN) cannot afford to pick up and move to Eastern TN and buy a mcmansion on the side of a mountain. Those are the half-backs. I've seen them time and time and time again (remember I am in Real Estate Development and I lived in Western NC), and 9 out of 10 times, those folks with FL plates are not from FL originally. I have talked to so many of them, I can guess their story (where they are really from originally and why they moved to Western NC) before they even tell me, and like I said, 9 times out of 10 I am correct.

HopToIt, I'm far from rich. I was lucky enough to have a relative here and enough cash for a Greyhound ticket. I sold off everything I owned and literally left Florida with a suitcase. I live in Nashville ( almost 4 hours from Knoxville and 2 hours from Chattanooga. ) To be honest, East Tennessee isn't that expensive at all unless you're buying land.
Most of the people I talk to that moved here are indeed natives, They tell me how bad Florida is and how much it sucks but then in the same breath tell me how much better Florida is then Tennessee and I always reply with ( Then why are you here ? ) trying my hardest to be polite because I'm in residential construction and am working on the houses they just bought.
