Default Waldo Must Change or Loose Out $$$

I can only say that after a ticket from the cocky Chief of the Waldo PD I made it a point to use my cruise and avoid the speed trap issue. Too bad the next time through, the officer cited me for speed because I prematurely accelerated prior to crossing the next speed limit sign.I was very upset , it was 530 am on a Saturday and I was the only car on the road and this cop stooped to the bizarre and wrote me a ticket. Therefore I will never drop a dime in that soon to die town. The revenue they recieved from that pinch will not go to keep a merchant up and running in a town with that raunchy reputation. As a multi business owner I know that your reputation is what you are and will make or break you.In Waldo's case their are finished!!!

In Waldo they actually have flashing lights on the "REDUCED SPEED AHEAD" signs. On the actual speed limit signs, they have bright yellow reflective signs attached to the sign post. They have speed limit signs on the side of the road and in the median as well as numerous "SPEED LIMIT STRICTLY ENFORCED" signs. And, to top it all off, they have the signs placed at least every quarter mile. Last time I drove through there I actually made a mental note of the sign placement. As I passed one sign I could see two more speed limit signs in front of me (and since there is one on each side of the road, that would be four signs each decorated with bright yellow reflective signs). And of course there are actual billboards just outside of town warning motorists that they are entering a town that doesn't give breaks for traffic offenses.

Driving is my Life is on a distinguished road
The reputation for the area is well deserved. I was cited for 11mph over. After seeing all of the "notices" (bill boards, writing on the road, etc) I found myself watching my instrument panel to ensure my vehicle wasn't exceeding the posted limit. When I was stopped I told the officer I was not speeding. I asked to see his radar.
I was told to stay in my car. I was not allowed to see the officer's car or method of "detecting" my vehicle speed which showed my vehicle's speed.
Radar clocking devices are not needed by the officers. It wasn't available for my ticket.
Doesn't anyone wonder why this area of Florida has the worst drivers? The most violators? Are the drivers all plain idiots, after all.. everybody knows this is a speed trap? Or are they like me... Driving the limit and still get a ticket?
Hey Mr. Safety Officer with all of the driving statistics...what is the response time (reaction time) when moving your eyes from the instrument panel to the road way? Is this safe, driving in town focusing on the instruments instead of the road?

You can not fight a ticket. There is no more evidence than the ticket. I had a sworn statement from the car following me that I did not exceed the speed limit. I paid the $181.00 and will complete the 4 hour driver improvement course, which ironically tells me to keep my eyes on the road.
Setting the cruise control would not have helped.. As I siad.. I was watching my speed.

I ask the citizens of Lawty/Waldo.. Do you benefit from these fines?
You can change the behavoir of your law enforcement team by electing a city council that will focus on promoting a town that would like a new reputation.
City council empowers the quality of your community.
The city leaders in the form of your elected officials and their employees define your city. The area may be surprised if they elect officials who had Police that could generate a positive city posture.
Would it be ok for the city sanitation group to raise and release rats so they could charge more for their services?

People of Lawty/Waldo... you deserve better.. Vote!

Default Robbery in waldo

UNTILL NOW, THE NIGHTMARISH STORIES OF UNREASONABLE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT IN WALDO FL. WERE SIMPLY THAT, "STORIES". DURING THESE TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES I, (AS MANY OTHER WORKING PEOPLE), AM DOING WHATEVER IS NECESSARY JUST TO KEEP MY BILLS PAID, MY SON IN COLLEGE, MY MORTGAGE PAID AND, MY HEAD ABOVE WATER. FOR ME, MY JOB KEEPS ME ON THE ROAD SOME 40,000 MILES PER YEAR. I CONSIDER MYSELF A SAFE & COURTEOUS DRIVER. ON THE ROAD AS MUCH, I DEAL WITH THOSE WHO ARE NOT DAILY AND OFTEN FIND MYSELF "WONDERING WHERE THE COPS ARE"...WELL I FOUND THEM OR, I SHOULD SAY THEY FOUND ME, IN WALDO FL.. MONDAY 03/02/09 AFTER LEAVING PORT RICHEY FL AT 05:00 AM IN ROUTE TO JACKSONVILLE, ON SR. 24 AT 07:17 AM (JUST BEFORE SUNRISE) OFFICER T. LOGAN WHOM IN ADVANCE, I SAW SITTING IN HIS VEH. WAITED FOR ME TO PASS THEN PULLED ONTO THE ROADWAY BEHIND ME WITH LIGHTS FLASHING. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS IN SIGHT ON THE ROAD AND YES, I WAS CLOCKED DRIVING 35 MPH (THE POSTED SPEED)... UNLESS, THE FLASHING LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ... THEN THE SPEED LIMIT IS SUPPOSEDLY 15 MPH. OK, THE CITATION I WAS ISSUED BY OFFICER LOGAN WAS... $444.00 THAT IS NO TYPO.. $444.00 (four hundred and fourty four dollars) . I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A GREAT DEAL OF RESPECT FOR OUR MEN IN BLUE. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THERE ARE POLICE OFFICERS WHO WILL "HOLD-UP" LAW BIDING WORKING CITIZENS FOR WHATEVER REASONS THEY MAY HAVE AND, BEHAVE IN WAYS TO ALTER THE OVERALL GOOD MAKE UP OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT. THIS KIND OF OUTRAGEOUS PENALITY/FINE IS JUST THAT, OUTRAGEOUS. THIS TICKET HAS SEVERLY HURT ME FINANCIALLY AND CERTAINLY SEEMS EXCESSIVE (to say the least). I CAN ONLY WONDER WHAT HAPPENS TO "REAL CRIMINALS" IN WALDO. PERHAPS NOW, THEY CAN AFFORD THAT NEW ELECTRIC CHAIR THEY WANTED IN CASE SOMEONE SHOULD "J-WALK".
AND YES, I WAS THINKING OF RETURNING TO WHAT APPEARED TO BE A "NICE" QUAINT" "OLD FASION" LITTLE TOWN WITH AN ANTIQUE SHOP ETC.... NOW RE-THOUGHT... ANY PLACE "BUT" WALDO !!!

Canu...I'm confused...you were cited for driving 35 in a 15 MPH zone?

Also, please don't use all caps. It is difficult to read.

Thank you for this..and the lack of paragraphs make it even more difficult.

And you did say you were 20 mph over the limit?

I, too, was going to take the 4 hour course so I wouldn't be assessed points on my license. The ticket would be reduced by $11. and the course is $29, +++ for mailing the completion form, etc. GUESS WHAT -- in my state they DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE COURSE!!!! Once your license date is entered into the system they have you. My state will only recognize our course which is 8 hours long and it gives you 5 points to your credit. So, not only is Lawtey a crooked speed trap (complete with lying officers since they ticket you even when you are NOT speeding), but the "you won't get points if you take our course" is a crock!!! Of course, if you live in Florida then you will be adjudicated as 0 points since you took the course. However, check the requirements of your state. You might still get points when you think you are in the clear. Just to let you know -- several trips down to my house near Tampa since last August. I came a different route and will never again drop a dime in that God-forsaken Hell hole.
