Default Gainesville real estate companies

I am considering relocating to Gainesville area, my question is do local
real estate companies use independent contractors or have their own
maintenance crew? I am in Columbus,Ga. and have been doing home
maintenance for real estate companies here for the last 18 years and
the work is just fallen away, not to mention everybody with a hammer and saw is a "contractor" now. The companies here that hire maintenance
workers that pay by the hour , pay very low wages (7.00 to 10.00) per
hour, and you have to use your own tools and truck.

With Gainesville being a college town, I would think that the turn over with rental properties would be higher than here thus more work.

Just looking for some insight , thanks in advance.

You know where you'll make your best money is hooking up with a Realtor that does foreclosed properties. They (the banks) usually pay pretty good for their trash outs, re-keys, pool maintenance, repairs, lawn care, etc.

What I would do is go on Realtor dot com and read the descriptions looking for listings that specifically say foreclosed property, REO, bank owned, etc. Contact the agent and see if they already have someone working for them. We handle foreclosed property and like to have at least three crews that we can call if we need work done. They make pretty decent money as well.

Good luck with your venture!

work in gainesville is very slow, property management companies are using their maintenance crews to do all the extra work and they do not like to pay. if I was you I would stay were you are if you are making money there and don't venture down this way
