I host a lot of friends and family who come to Orlando and have what I call a "staycation" and usually take them to parks in Orlando, the beaches in Clearwater/Sarasota, or to South Florida. Every once and a while I also like to go to South Florida on a whim since it is a good drive to get a completely different atmosphere and vibe.
Other good options are Savannah, St Augustine, Atlanta, and Charleston.

South FL and Orlando have a different vibe?

I thought they all came to the North Carolina mountains for cooler weather and fresh air.

LOL, but they are both low paying, with a pretty poor economy, high cost of living, overpopulated, traffic congested, redlight running and foreign majority cities.

Yup, also to be around the friendly Floridians, friendly North Carolinians, to see the views, etc...

So, only "native" Floridians move to North Carolina?

What about all the "half backs"?

Oh no, there are plenty of halfbacks, and obviously not all friendly.

Yes. Miami is much larger, beach culture, more international and Latino cultural (specifically more Cuban than Puerto Rican), more models and celebrities, the flora and fauna and climate are much different and more tropical, Miami is more typically Floridian and a lot less southern. I would venture to say that Orlando has more charm, but I am not trying to insult Miami by any means by saying that, Miami has a better nightlife, better restaurant scene, better cultural venues, an aquarium, a great zoo, less chains, more of a language barrier. I think they are dramatically different in some ways but they do have some similarities. I think distinct parts of the Orlando metro area are reminiscent of parts of South Florida like Winter Park to Coral Gables, Dr Phillips to Boca Raton, but I think a lot of areas of Orlando look more like Atlanta and Jacksonville than Miami. There are more trees, different types of trees, more colonial styled homes and less tile roofing, Orlando is less ostentatious, .... I could go on and on. I love Orlando and Miami but there is no comparison to me.
