Default property tax relief?

What is going on with the FL legislation about the decline of property taxes and increasing the sales tax 2.5%?
I know the Gov. was pushing this but did it pass? Also, I think the back up plan was to increase the homestead exemption from 25k to 50k.
Also when would it take into effect?
Any thoughts, thanks!

It will come up for vote later in the year. Also they are considering rolling the rates back to the 2001 rate. Either would be great for us as Hillsborough County has raised our taxes on a half acre lot that we wanted to build on. 2004 $2,700. 2005 $7,800 2006 $11,000. All that in the name of progress.
