Default Naples, florida

I'm surprised no one mentioned the city of Naples, Florida. It is very tropical and includes white sand beaches lined with coconut trees.

No place in Florida compares to Hawaii. They are both different in their own ways. Hawaii has a Polynesian feel, Florida does not.

I'm surprise no one has mention the word "humidity" or "northerners" yet in this comparsion. Does hawaii lack both of these traits?

The original post is from seven months ago, but it looks like this thread is back again. I've worked with two families recently who relocated here. One retiree from the Big Island settled into a villa in Apollo Beach. The other family from Oahu moved to the barrier island west of Vero Beach. Both agree it's nothing like Hawaii, but they're enjoying the larger selection of fresh food & shopping items. Neither were expecting the summertime heat & humidity.

True. I'd suggest hanging out at the POLYNESIAN RESORT over at Disney in your free time. In FL, that's about as "Hawaiian" as you'll likely find.

There's about as much similarity between Hawaii and Florida as there is between Colorado and Florida --- in other words, none. Baja Boomer had it right. The lighting is different, the colors are different, the air feels and smells different and other that having coconut palms and a few of the same species of trees, the vegetation for the most part is completely different. I prefer the vibe of South Florida and the smell and feel of the air. There is less dry dead vegetation, the sand is white, the palms are a more vivid color of green and the vibe is completely different. I would choose SoFla hands down over Hawaii! Learn to love the flatness! It creates a lusher landscape (everything near water level)!

Anything south of the Tampa area is going to be more tropical and vibrant because that's where the frostline is. The tropical palms, flowers, etc can't live north of Tampa because it gets to cold in the winter. So if you're looking for tropical-look south of Tampa.
