The house was gorgeous, it had like this staircase and it looked like it went into an octagon shaped landing on the second floor, did you ever see such a design? it was stunning! What part of Li are you moving from?
Spring Hill is actually Hernando County. We found a great community called Sterling Hill. I LOVE it! I know everone is afraid of Sink Holes in Spring Hill and I am sure there are alot of them around, but I was told that since it was a new community, they had to do some sort of ground testing or something to see if it was risk before building.

We looked at alot of places in Pasco county and they were beautiful. We just found that we could get more for our $$ in Spring Hill and the area is just growing so it is not a parking lot either. I was told that it used to be dubbed "Little NY" because all of the retired cops went there. But that is not so anymore, I found that it was very family friendly.

We are coming from the Bethpage/Plainedge area. I am going to miss LI so much. I hope I don't get too homesick, but I think it will work out.

I don't remember seeing any houses that have an octogon landing. Mine does have a landing, but not octogon. (I think anway, I have only seen the video - Hubby picked it out). It just needed to be big enough to hold my three kids!!

Nomoresnow,
My Fatherinlaw lives in N Fort Meyers, He loves the flea Market, and check out the shell Factory.
I always stop at the Immoklee Casino on my way to see them for fun.

Minniemom, I'm a bit north of you - Plattsburgh! But it was a nice weekend for a change. I will miss spring, but not much else.

I've been to the SHell Factory, and it's an interesting place, to say the least. Next year, I want to hit that Caribbean fiesta they usually hold there. Or maybe I'm thinking the Mexican fiesta. Either way, my friend goes every year and enjoys it something fierce.

She also goes to the casino. You may have seen her there, FLsunshine!

Thanks for the good wishes. We still have about 5 months to go, but my heart's there already.

Can you move sooner? I hope you will be happier in ft. Myers in the heat. Youd be west of my city about 80-90 miles west. Maybe we can visit before I move out. Dont worry, not looking to move all the way to northern NY, too cold. No further north than Oil city

What did your house cost and how big is it? When I move, I think ill buy my furniture at a garage sale and save mucho

DH is retiring at the end of August, so we won't be moving before then. It'll depend, too, on when we close on our house up here.

The house we bought is a manufactured home on leased land. It's about 1100-1200 sq. ft. - enough for DH, me and the 4 kitties. Price, including furnishings, was in the $75 - 80 range, but we do have a monthly fee to pay the community for the land and services. I'm not real comfortable giving specifics, but that should give you a good idea.

I'll tell you, some people got some good deals at our sale. They must have, because the big ticket items went really fast and there was no haggling, so they knew the prices were good. We usually buy quality stuff, too, and they could tell by looking at it. Plus, without kids jumping up and down on it, the pieces were in good shape.

Thats very expensive for a small manufactored house if it cost you $75k. The mobile/manufactored houses in the parks in Palm Beach county go anywhere from $5000 for a small trailor to $25000 for a medium double wide to over $50k for a new(er) large doublewide. Lot fees are $300-700 depending on which mobile home park.

How big is your house in north NY and what can you get for it? I am thinking of letting people advertise for free on my real estate based website if I am unable to sell the domain. Youll be able to advertise your house on my website

NAH, I'm happy with what I paid. It's a nice house, fairly newer, in a gated 55+ community, not a mobile home park and I'm way too tired to be going back and forth with you about it. Thanks for your opinion, though, and your offer, but we're going "traditional" (realtor).

Thanks, firemed. It is a golf community, attached to Lake Fairways. They're "sister" communities where the residents of one can use the facilities and attend functions of the other. Kind of like two communities in one! Each place has its own 18 hole golf course and they often hold tournaments across the lines. Our friends live in LF, so we'll have the best of both worlds. It's right on 41, but our house is the farthest away from the highway, and you never hear it. I'm sure we're going to be very happy there. Do you play there?
