Lake City Florida jobs...
I've just recently moved from Winter Springs Florida to Lake City. It's almost like stepping back in time somedays. The people are much more laid back up here, but the issue I am running into is 'no work'.
I've been an assistant manager, a supervisor, a claims processor...and much, much more. Yet, I cannot seem to get a call back from anyone up here. I talked with one lady and she told me it's not what you know, but who. That kind of stings.
Last month I figured that much for myself because I applied for a basic entry-level position and never got a call or anything. The church sent me a little letter stating they went with someone else. Um, from my understanding they never called anyone in and just hired someone they knew. Thats kind of messed up.
Has anyone else run into this issue with other smaller cities in this state?

It's the "good old boy" network that lingers in the more Northern parts of the city. It's one of the reasons why I'm leaving North Florida, as I can't stand that anti-meritocritous thought process.

Hello Fadingmoon
My names Amber, i've moved from Naples, Florida to lake city, florida about 6 years ago. I am running into the exact same problem. I've sent resume after resume and I'm getting fewer call backs. Even if i do get an interview it seems that I never get the job. It's very frustrating. I am 20 years old and still a Server. I cannot seem to land a good paying or a good job here. I've run out of options but to maybe Go to school and Get a Career. But then what if the people still don't hire me. You can email me at amberanddaniel@bellsouth.net ... Thanks

Sounds like Ft. Myers with the exception that prospective employers do not even bother to send a letter to let you know they've hired someone else. Sorry to hear about your predicaments. Hope it gets better soon - that either you'll catch a break or perhaps be able to move somewhere that the job market makes more sense.

I recently just moved here and I am running into the same situation so you are not alone. I moved due to the beautiful town and I needed to start over fresh. I hope to find something soon or I might have to find an job in a fast food joint just to make a living.

North Fl Is Growing
I moved to lake city 2 years ago from south florida and I still am not settled into a job situation, nor is my wife. There are jobs up here depending on what your good at or what your willing to work for. I work out of town not because a lack of work, but more a lack of pay, average jobs in Lake City don't pay extremely well. I found several that have rules of code a must, which with no beneifits and no future 401k and pay as low as it gets.
It is my opinion that having a strict code to work with on top of the worthless no paying, no future job offer, it's a job not worth taking.
There are many alternatives to leaving your future in someone elses bank account, work from home or out of town, I do both for now and it works for me. The rural areas of north florida are all much like this, small towns that have outsiders moving in, residents are not always happy about that.
Starting your own business didn't work for us either, we had a store and we did get some customers, but it wasn't enough to keep it going.
The ideal thing for anyone in a rural area would be to work online.

http://www.arise.com and telework.
Lived in LC for a few years, glad to be back home on the Gulf Coast.
In order to get a good paying job, w. good benes like health, life, dental, 401K, etc, I had to move to Gainseville, FL. LOT's of good jobs there, from healthcare to telecommunications to all sorts of things.
I believe there is still a regional call center in the area, that services Dell, among other companies. Have you tried them? I think you can actually see it from I-75 w. the folks smoking out back. It's a 24x7 operation last time I was there.
You can always become a concubine... er FOLLOWER of the End Timers. Lake City is their home base. They own alot of the city there, and they take care of their own.
Have you tried here yet?: Lake City Chamber of Commerce and go through the member directory list. If they are in the chamber, you can bet that they are more proactive than the rest of the crowd.
Lake City Chamber of Commerce
Daniel Crapp's Real Estate always seems to do well, they are located in the heart of Lake City. Lake City FL Real Estate, Live Oak Real Estate
Like someone else posted, the VA seems to be one of the major employers of the area: Lake City VAMC, NF/SGVHS - Facilities Locator & Directory
Corrections also seems to be a major employer: Employment Opportunities at Florida Department of Corrections
Lake City Government Jobs: Health/ Medicine Florida Jobs - government jobs
Lake City Community College: https://www.lakecitycc.edu/
More LC gub'ment jobs: https://jobs.myflorida.com/joblist.h...de=-4.10000015
Hope this helps!!!

Yes, when I moved up here almost 23 years ago I had the same problem. I applied for a job in Live Oak and was told that someone would either have to move or die before a job would open up. I eventually had to find a job in Gainesville and that's where I've been ever since. I'm really ready to find a job in Lake City.

Fadingmoon, this is Cricket and I also have been having the same problems as you and working on trying to find a job for 7 months, working 24/7 on the internet applying to all I qualify for and still no respsonses. If I do get a call or an interview(2) they are interested and will call you back and that ais the end of it. I live in Palm Coast and there are just no jobs there, tried Daytona, St. Augustine, Jacksonville. Have even tried over in SC, same story, even have 4 employments agencies working with me (yeah right!) Good thing I am not having to pay them for their lack of work, they keep telling me they don't have anything, how do they even stay open than. Lately on the news they have even been talking about people having these problems all over the place, not getting any responses, unemployment being up, more people out of work. A few places I just walked in asking if they needed any help and I get this story they don't work that way, you have to go on the internet, I have come to the conclusion that everybody uses the internet for hiring these days and that is because that way they don't have to deal with "people" and don't ever have to respond in anyway. Not like it use to be that is for sure!! How long would it take to send a group letter just saying the jobs has been filled, at least that would be better than nothing at all. Some of these places have these automatic responses that come back to you saying "Thank you for applying, your application has been sent to the correct department for review, if your qualifications fit the match you will be contacted within the next 2 wks." and then you hear zilt!!!! Very frustrating to say the least If you notice also that most of the jobs are such low pay now you would think we were back in the 1980's, how do they expect people to live off the "great salary" that they are now offering, anything under $10.00/hr is a joke this day and time. I am sure you would agree...... so I am left frustrated even more each day. I feel like my life is a like a roller coaster dealing with all this, hoping that today may be the day I get some news from at least one of the thousands of applications I have put out there, but then again nothing but dismay....and we are not in a resession???????
