Are there any suburbs/cities/areas near Orlando (relatively near) that are walkable, as in, a car is not needed most of the time for work, shopping, etc? This is the type of place I'd enjoy, but might not exist in Florida as far as I can tell. Are there any?

PS If not, tell me of any all over Florida, but I'd prefer near Orlando.

I've heard that Winter Park and College Park are very walkable, but I have not been there. The spouse is heading over there today and will report back.

Winter Park and College park are not truly "walkable", well maybe college park is, because it has a Publix right in the middle of it on Edgewater. If you really want to live in a "walkable" community, then try one of those planned village type communities like Celebration, Avalon Park, and Baldwin Park. They all have downtowns with grocery stores, banks, etc. that you could easily walk to.

Winter Park is only "walkable" if you buy fancy shoes, cloths, art, and other nick-nacks on a daily basis.

Does Winter Park have a downtown? Or is Rollins College the main event?
