Granted I live in something of a bubble, but I really like my neighbors and the people in my town. Nice folks, have lived in many places in the country and around the world, and are currently choosing to live here. Highly educated too. Lots of actual DoD rocket scientists and enough other tech workers that I feel a little dumb at times because I only have one masters degree. And the way we all banded together after Ivan and chainsawed a route out to the highway so the National Guard could get into the area showed a lot of character and neighborliness.

That's awesome to hear! Glad to hear people helping eachother out in time of need. In other places in FL, I dont think I would hear the same thing.

I agree. I started this thread with the idea to expose the tons of asset Florida has. Florida has many more then any other state by far.
Stop the doom and gloom hi jacking.
This thread is about the positive assets of Florida.

That is an asset for sure.
We have power outages here all the time, in our neighborhood of 15 homes we all walk around and check on each other, especially the older couples to make sure they are ok and see if they need anything.
Some will complain about the Florida people but I can tell you they are usually the first to jump in and help those in need.
Heck my parents told me they broke down on a Tennessee highway in the mid 1980's and sat there for 7 hours before a single sole stopped to help them. Local cars went by over and over, local cops included and they sat there.
It was 20 degrees and dad did not want to risk walking when he did not know where the next ramp was. So they put out the white shirt and bundled up.
And who stopped to help them? A man and woman from Florida, with a Broward County plate.

Give me a break, now the Florida oranges are bad.
Dang you gotta get out of there before you explode with your anger.

Only suckers would be taken advantage of when buying in dump city, I mean Daytona Florida.
Depends on what you mean by richer? Some people have a 100 bucks on them and think they are rich.
But you are still there aren't you?????

I know one company that was in Wildwood who left Florida.
Why?
Because they could not find enough people to fill and 2nd and 3rd shift at their plant is why.
They started people out at 12 buck an hour and still could net enough people to run a much needed 2nd and 3rd shift.
Now I know why people are so angry, the dang lazy butts with no skills want 20 bucks an hour to work in a factory and wont work anything but day turn.
Hate to burst your bubble again but there are tons of successful business in Florida. I know two of them personally. They moved from Illinois and Minnesota to the Tampa area and have grown into large businesses.
One owner is around 45 years old and is semi retired, his net worth is amazing and he credits the Florida business loans and great weather for his business thriving. He was not growing in Illinois and in 5 years in Florida he went from no assets to an amazing net worth.
All because he moved to Florida where he could get a small business loan cheap, lower taxes and since a ton of his business is outside he grew quickly. PM me and I will even give you the name of the business.
Answer this, what the heck does beaches have to do with a business moving to Florida? You stated that above.
So you are saying there is no businesses in Florida at all? Hummmm.

that the supermarket didn't even sell Florida oranges. They were shipping them from clear across the country. The other point being Florida is competing with California for the citrus industry. Obviously, the STORE made the decision to get their citrus from California, not Florida. Why do you think that was?
As far as here in SW Florida, a LOT of our produce that I see in Publix isn't from Florida either. I see so much of it with labels from South America.

Every geographical area has it's season. We tried to buy Florida local navel oranges yesterday at a roadside produce stand and we were told they're out of season. Just because it's Florida, it doesn't mean oranges are harvested year round. Go to any of the Florida Grower sites and you'll see that navels are currently unavailable to ship.

Mrs P, I love how the river runs through the middle of Greenville's downtown. Nothin' but natural beauty there, and a clean, safe downtown that is unmatched.
