What about Hudson, Fl.?
Hi, can anyone tell me anything about Hudson, Florida? Considering relocation there, seems like relatively low real esatate prices to be near the water. any information would be great, thanks.

While it's by the water you are almost an hour away from any of the really nice beaches.

What do you mean by nice beaches? Are there bad beaches? Are the beaches bad in and around Hudson? What makes them bad beaches?

One small beach at Hudson and the water quality is not that good.
Fred Howard Park in Tarpon has a nice beach.
Here is a link to a virtual tour of the beach.
http://www.pinellascounty.org/virtua...ward_beach.htm
It is about 25 minutes from Hudson.
Hudson has some nice subdivisions but some areas that are not so nice.
Up off Hudson Ave you have Fairway Oaks and a few other nice subdivisions.

That's because it is low-income retiree trailer park hell.
And driving on US 19 every day will make you want to eat a bullet.

I lived in hudson about 7 or 8 years ago- yes, you can definitely get a small, older house right on a canal leading directly to the gulf for relatively low money-if you have a boat , it's a great opportunity- that being said, yes us19 was/is? Both ugly and dangerous. Hudson is a good hour from a decent beach -probably longer in traffic....there are alot of retirees in the general area but i never minded that...in general, outside of the canals...i did not find it terribly pleasing to the eye...but it is all relative---and i found there to be a nice mix of people...a few crazys- but they're impossible to get away from...

Thanks for all the good info. It doesn't sound like it is exactly what I am looking for...
