Question Myrtle Grove Florida near Pensacola FL

Thank you in advance for any and all replies... I will be moving to the Pensacola area and need neighborhood info about Myrtle Grove... I have read other posts that state Brownsville and West Pensacola are to be avoided due to the thug lifestye there. I am a 50ish old lady without a lot of money. Please and thank you...

Smile I live in Myrtle Grove....

I live in Myrtle Grove....it's in SW P'cola. It is a real old part of town, and is on a down-hill slide, but there are some nice folks here. I live in a mobile home in a park on Lillian Highway, just off Fairfield Drive (in case you have a map and want to see where that is) and it is very convenient here. I live almost right behind CVS, and am close to my Doctor, grocery shopping, the Post Office, etc. Rents in this area (apartments, houses, etc.) are reasonable, but don't expect the Taj Mahal! We moved here 10 years ago to be near our Grandkids. This area has the Pensacola Naval Air Station (I imagine you already knew that!) and FULL of retired military. My late husband was a retired Coast Guard officer, and this is real close to the Naval Shopping center, which is great! So that helps financially.

I do not love P'cola, as the traffic is absolutely murderous in some areas of town and NOONE here seems to know a red light means STOP! Or has a turn indicator on their car, or recognizes the speed limit! Also, the Library system is old, out-dated and extremely hard to get to. (As I am a voracious reader, that really bugs me.) But if you like to get out and about there's plenty to do here.

I will be happy to give you my telephone number if you'd like to talk. When do you plan to move here? Since I am not sure what other kind of info you would like, let me know.

I am a widow (4 years this month) and don't have a lot of money and have some health issues but am doing ok. I've been in this park for 8+years and have some really great neighbors (and some not so nice, but that's everywhere.....) but thank goodness I have plenty of family here.

Good luck, contact me if you like,

Myrtle Grove is not one of the most desireable areas around town. It has some decent spots, but for the most part, it's lower end living. What brings you to the area? There are other parts of town that are better for the money.

I love Myrtle Grove. I have moved to the northern end of Blue Angel Hwy, in a new subdivision, and wish I had stayed in Myrtle Grove area.
