My husband always did mine... but then we divorced and he moved to Mass and I had to do it. I didn't mind for a while, but then got tired or using an entire weekend day to do it. Not the mowing itself, but by the time you mow, weed wack, trim... and then sweep ( I didn't have a blower).... then shower and then try to regain some strength to do something else.... It was just not worth it. I worked outside the home 8 hours with a 1 hour commute each way. With only 2 days off, who wants to spend one of them doing the yard .... EVERY WEEKEND.

I finally hired a friend of my son's who had his own business and he came on time every week and did the whole thing. Well worth the reasonable fee he charged me.

Now I live in Kentucky on a farm and have a very small lawn to mow... and I don't have to mow it all year. The farm animals take care of the rest of my 60 acres.

One of our neighbors is in this business and for $20 it's a bargain. We can't justify buying a lawnmower. Plus he only comes when it needs mowing. The last time was before Thanksgiving, 3 months ago and it looks fine.

On average, how often does the lawn need mowing? Does it require mowing more or less often depending on the time of the year?

Voted "other".
HOA does it for my. That was an attraction when I bought. otherwise I would do it myself to save the $$, and do it right.

During the rainy season (End of May through October), it needs to be cut once a week, but we do it every other week (twice a month) even though it really should be once a week. November through Mid-May we can go a month sometimes probably. But we continue the ever two week cycle with the lawn guy, just to help him out.
