Default Pensacola FL, Property Tax and Home Owners Insurance

Just wondering, as a generalization, how much is property tax on a three bedroom two bath house. How much would the home owners insurance run. I was thinking in the neighborhood of 150-200k for the selling price. Thanks.

I think the insurance depends on the neighborhood, the insurance company, and your history. Our insurance is less than 1100 per year on a 1500sf 3br/2ba house in north Pensacola. My wife worked with an insurance company and her company couldn't match the rate we were getting.

Property taxes are a little pricey - about 2000/year. They weren't too bad, but they just reevaluated the home values so mine went up about 1000. If you're looking for a primary residence you do get a break if you file homestead - basically certifying that the home is your primary residence and not a vacation home or a rental. With the homestead, the value of your home is automatically lowered 20000 for tax purposes.

Still, not bad, considering a pay about $5000.00 in property tax (Raised brick ranch 3/2/1 with a finished basement.). All things considered, Chicago is a pretty expensive city to live in. With the equity I have in my home, I think I could pick up a very nice place out there. Now it's just a matter of finding the right job..........
