I'll solve the license plate silliness.....
Next time a car cuts you off and it has Florida plates, demand to know where they were originally from.
That's the only real way to find out if it's "Floridians" cutting you off or the "northerners"
BTW...I've been here for 25 years and am NOT considered a Floridian.
This thread has gotten real silly.

Oh - you came acrossed as if you have been living her for some time, but weren't necessarily from here. Anyway, all that aside, I'm leaving NY for all the reasons you guys complain about NYers, I'm going to be so upset if I get down there and it turns out to be NY on a smaller scale - LOL. That's it, I'm moving to Alabama!

I consider you a Floridian for sure! 25 yrs! Unless you dont want to be considered a Floridian, I'd definitely say you are! People come and go in FL like a revolving door, so 25 yrs is a long time. I live in a subdivision that's only about 3 yrs old, and I have seen more people come in and outta here, it'd make your head spin. I know of one house where there have been atleast 3 or 4 different families in it.

What do you mean I'm not from here? I was born in FL. Like I said, I was here when places like Orlando, in certain parts of the city, had more cows than people. I remember when a lot of areas in RPB where all dirt roads!

Yes, if you are moving to a place like South Florida or Tampa, I'd say you are moving to a place just like the place you want to leave, which really doesnt make sense. The weather is definitely different though. But someone trying to leave NY for reasons mentioned throughout this thread, wouldnt want to live in a lot of areas in FL. You are only going to run into the same thing.
If you are so sure that you wanna leave NY, and wanna be in a large metro area, why not a place like Atlanta or Charlotte? Better job prospects, 4 seasons, better scenery/terrain. Is it just the beach that you are after?

Hey. Why not Northern FL? Northern FL and Alabama have a lot in common and are very similar, and in the panhandle of FL, you couldnt even tell the difference. So if you are looking into Alabama, why not the northern parts of FL?
You'll get to be in FL, with the beaches and awesome laid-back lifestyle that you wont find in South Florida.

I know - I'm just saying from the other message you had up it says you have lived here for years so, it gave me the impression you hadn't lived there your whole life.

Honestly, Hop - Florida is not my top choice, it is my husbands and all our family is there so he wants to be close to them. I would go to NC in a heart beat. I'm not a beach person at all, but I am a fan of warm sunny weather though.

Why is your hubby so set on S FL? That's the last place I'd move to in the state. Everyone has opinions though, I just dont care for it.
You want NC, so why not talk him into visiting NC, places like Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville? It couldnt hurt.
This may be generalizing or whatever, but you seem like a really nice person. I think your attitude and your demeanor would be a good fit in NC, not South FL. Hussle and bussle is the face of S FL.
